My post 1897 hinted at a different agenda at work and now perhaps the truth is about to emerge. Sit tight and see what transpires. I shall be greatly disappointed if Laird is taken over by an American Company for it has a bright future within the present UK based management structure. CH.

OK - I will answer my own question then. Here is a headline I picked up a minute ago:

A cluster of Directors have been buying shares over the last six weeks all at a price above today's level. Are we to assume that they know less than those who are selling. I think not and am concerned that there may be a different agenda at work presently. CH.

In analysts report announced this morning, Numis has restated their “Buy” rating on Laird. The Estimated Target Price suggests a possible upside of 27.24% from company’s close price. CH.

I am surprised that the market has failed to grasp the significance of today's acquisition and that of LSR three weeks ago in relation to Laird's present and future involvement in such growth areas as Telematics and IOT. CH.

Thank-you CT.
I have just replaced my 2005 Ford Focus Estate with a 2013 Ford Focus Estate ST3. The big difference in the 8 years (and partly due to higher spec) is the amount of sensors and electronics, from windscreen wiper sensors to the sat nav knowing about congestion ( which my older garmin doesn't), bluetooth for phone and voice commands (which I haven't learnt yet), 64Gb USB plugged in for music complete with title list (including my old vinyl collection), instant mpg display, reminder to change gear for eco driving and lots more, so I can quite see how this is, or has been, a growth market.

Looks as if the list in the post above can soon be enlarged to include Audi, Bentley, Skoda, BMW, Jaguar Land Rover, MAN, Porsche, Seat, Smart, MM & Mercedes Benz.

As regards the acquisition of Novero it is worth looking at the following link -

hxxp://www.laird-plc.com/~/media/Files/L/Laird-IR/results-reports-presentations/2015/novero-investor-presentation-dec-2015-v2.pdf

Predicted growth surrounding telematics covered on Pages 16 - 18 are particularly worthy of note.

I get the impression that the market has reacted to the news that mobile phone sales may be slowing as if they were almost stopping completely and that Laird is totally dependent on this one area or customer. This is far from the truth and the last time I looked at which Industry Leaders Laird was supplying with a wide variety of products it was an impressive list :- Apple, Cisco, Panasonic, Qualcomm, Huawei, VW, General Motors, Ford, HP, Sony Ericsson, Samsung, Motorola, Nvidia, Dell, LG, Chrysler, Benq, Nokia Siemens, Alvarion, LSI and Continental. Whilst this may be a little dated and could well have enlarged or altered it is worth remembering when considering Laird as an investment at current levels particularly as it also presently offers a 3.7% yield. WOW what a lovely and informative reply. Yes I have seen in a few news papers talk of a takeover. Eaton on a few occasions.

Being a med term trader it would have to be a good take out price at a substantial premium to the present share price

Just wondering which other companys could be eyeing it up. Any ideas?.

cheers.

MS1- I think we can now safely say that the recent downtrend is reversing !

I cannot claim to be a student of the Elliot Wave Pattern system, albeit I am aware of the principles which have some persuasive merit. In over forty years of investing/ trading I have flirted with all manner of technical analysis. In recent years the only reminder of those trading days are my use of Fibonacci numbers for my moving averages – 21, 55, 89 and 144. This is only an indulgence and certainly no better than your choices. I have for several years now become a longer view investor, thus I take great care in selection and seldom have to sell a share . I first invested in Laird Technology in February 2011 and have remained a strong holder throughout and have also bought further on any weakness when the MA’s indicate a recovery from a downtrend. I also reinvest the excellent dividends.

My only concern is that I will lose Laird from my portfolio, as it is an obvious takeover target and rumours have already started with Eaton Corporation named. They of course gobbled up Cooper Industries a few years ago who had attempted themselves to takeover Laird. CH.

Hi churchtower EMA 25 day 50 day and 200 day used.

I call it the staircase pattern and it is a hybrid of the Elliot Wave Pattern System. Usually 5 steps but no ABC afterwards, thats it in a short version of how i would explain it.

Are you a student of Elliot Wave?.

MS1 - Thank you for your most interesting posts. May I ask firstly, what daily period your moving average is based on and secondly, whether you might consider giving some past examples of the pattern you have identified on Laird's chart at present which would support the excitement you are clearly experiencing from the wording of your posts. Regards - CH.
