Deccan Herald May 8th 2016 quoted Turner as saying :
Marketing strategy involves campaigns on platfroms including TV, Outdoor, Digital Media and Print media.
The earmarked budget is slightly north of 1.5 Million pounds.Split 50% TV, 25% print, 10% on Outdoor and remainder on Digital media.Aim is 10% of market by 2020.END.
Target market is new College Graduates, fashion concious but on a limited disposable income. She has been quoted as aiming to be profitable by March 2019. This would give some idea of target for profitability ?

fairly relaxed here

marketing spend is the game here so not surprised to see big cash outflows - think Amazon rather than early days of ASOS - so I disagree with Paul Scott on that point

Maloney- yes it is frustrating watching this slide from the 70's to the 40's in a few weeks. I've expressed my concerns to the CFO who gave me satisfactory answers.I'm still confident in the management (although I didn't agree with the heavily discounted placing) & we have to remember that only 10% of the shares are in free float, so it doesn't take much buying/ selling to budge this. Market makers know this & will do all they can to create a market. There's going to be quite some stock shifted next week ; )

I still maintain the following figures for the above 6 month period:

The first 6 months of 2015 produced sales of £2.833 million.

The first 4 months of 2016 alone produced sales of £5 million (see rns)

A strong August & September could push total 6 month sales to £8 million

That's a possible increase of £5.2 million- an increase of 180%

180% is my most optimistic figure

That is a phenomenal growth rate!

On the downside, many e commerce companies have been downgraded esp FlipKart. Demonetisation has also hit them hard in the short term since being introduced in November. I wont also forget the ridiculously heavily discounted placing which has also hit sentiment here- remember that this was in the mid 70's only several weeks ago. It still looks like several 'players' are still offloading their shares.

Why such a slide today ???? Does the market know something, or is it the continuous daily selling?

Mary Turner CEO was asked about the ASOS connectionKOOVS is said to be inspired by ASOS. Any takeaways from ASOS that you plan to put to use in the Indian market? The chief creative officer at KOOVS was earlier the chief creative officer at ASOS when it started. Our whole team is fundamentally from ASOS. The core of their learning comes from ASOS. They know where to look for designs and sampling, procurement and supply. Each one has 12-18 years of experience in this. The fundamental lesson we all bring from ASOS is that one has to be very focussed and clear in terms of what the brand stands for. That way you can build a sustainable business. In 2001, when ASOS was launched, retail gurus fell over laughing saying who would buy a fashion item online from a picture. It took five years for ASOS to establish itself. Initially, it sold everything - sunglasses, coasters, lamps etc. ASOS stands for 'As Seen On Screen'. So it would source anything that a consumer saw on screen and wanted to buy, whether it was a lamp seen on the TV series Friends or a celebrity dress. Later, ASOS found that the biggest chunk of the requests were for dresses that celebrities wore. So it started its own private label.http://www.financialexpress.com/industry/face-off-discounting-is-not-part-of-our-business-model-says-mary-turner/239186/

I would hope that as Koovs' customers tend to be younger urban Indians they would probably have a bank account or e-wallet facilities.

It's been a month now since demonisation in India & e commerce companies suffered big hits in the following weeks, as many relied on COD (cash on delivery).Things are looking better for those companies who have quickly adopted online payments."Online retailers have seen a 20-40% decline in daily orders, according to a report by advisory and research firm RedSeer Consulting. Experts say that it may take at least one month for business to get back to normal."Read more at:

Looks like these are getting flipped by placees as soon as the bid goes over 50p so until either news or 50p placees are exhausted we are pretty much stuck around here.

E commerce potential in India is enormous.

350 million Indian citizens are already online, and the number is expected to nearly double to 600 million by 2020. According to Googles Next Billion Users team, three Indians are coming online every second and the government is also taking initiatives to promote digital finance in the country.

The potential opportunity for merchants is enormous, but they must stake their claim today to win over Indias commerce-hungry population. Leading companies are already making their move on the Indian market, including, Amazon, Alibaba, and Flipkart, says the report.
