EI

Think u are on right track safer than DEB. As for Bunnings its too early days and wont have an impact for years, many have tried many have failed you cannot compare a Bunnings store to a complete roll out like Aldi and Lidl as against Supermarkets, if that makes sense.

FWIW I e-mailed KGF investors relations late yesterday, with a link to that
article, got a reply this morning saying they were aware.

Added before yesterday's close and looking to add further.

It is only fair to say that if Le Pen does win, it's likely to be a first step
to France leaving the EURO, so there may be an initial share price shock,
that is speculation on my part only so please DYOR, as always.

My view is longer term.

Ed, would be interested to hear if you have any thoughts on that article.

Very interesting, thanks for that.

Would hope the actions KGF are taking will enable them to position
more aggressively on cost, if needed.
The big reduction in stock lines planned
should help focus buying power.

In the US, Home Depot do not tend to compete on price and they make incredible
returns, even with Lowes, Wal Mart etc.

Bunnings new store opens and pricing is good.

Greece, here we go again, they would be far better outside the EURO area imv.

May impact short term sentiment towards KGF, unfairly imv.

Ta, EI. :-)

For others ...

I see it's now recovered that initial mark down; gone blue.

Hi corlis, UKX looking perky.

Hoping a few more opportunities with KGF over the next few weeks.

ED, summary of this morning's analyst view on the Proactiveinvestors site,
if you have not already seen.

May not be the low!, bounced from around that level previously.

The French Presidential odds are narrowing, so causing some nerves at a guess.

Opened down 5p this morning. Probably in response to Jefferies 10p reduction in target price (335p down to 325p). Maintains "Hold".

Ed, think along similar lines. Would add the significant cash on the balance
sheet, a pension scheme in surplus, Screwfix, and FCF looks strong.

If Greece flares up again over the next couple of weeks may be an opportunity
to acquire lower down, no Greek exposure but it may impact European area sentiment.
There is also the Fresh Election causing some uncertainty.

Hi Essentialinvestor.

Yes, a few weeks to wait.

Too optimistic? As you well know, it's about the future. Atm there are brokers and commentators (slightly more than half?) against Kingfisher. That means the shares can be acquired at a reasonable (as defined by the optimists) price. We know the UK is going well overall. The Screwfix business is booming and can be replicated abroad. UK B&Q is being reshaped. Poland is strong. Russia is in a better place with the rise in the oil price. What is needed is France to pick up. If you look at the Eurozone recent data, it is moving nicely ahead.

My hope is that we see France moving forward and spending more on its buildings. There has been a long period of stagnation and so there must be backlog of postponed work. I think once a recovery begins it will run for a long-ish period and be strong (as the backlog needs to be tackled).

If it doesn't go this well, there's always the 'Home Depot put'. US construction is going well and Trump may even give it a boost. Sterling has dropped against the dollar. Kingfisher is held back by France but maybe not for much longer. A good time for Home Depot to make a move?

I may now sound even more optimistic than yourself?

It's not too popular atm Ed, perhaps I am being too optimistic,
find out more in just a few weeks.

Questor says 'avoid Kingfisher'.

Other doubters include JP Morgan, Nomura and Investec.

Preliminaries due on 22 March.

Fwiw, I've increased my holding recently.

Time to take profit, or sit & wait.

FTSE double bottoming at 7,120-ish,
KGF 333 just holding onto a bit of blue at mo.

Well would like to see how the share price performs on a weaker day.

KGF is not a trade for me though, on a multi year view this is very interesting.
Huge cash generation, net cash on the balance sheet and a pension scheme in surplus.
Intend to add if markets do take a dip.

This still has allot of setting up to do, but im thinking the worst is behind this share.....not to say there won't be the odd drop, but overall i'd expect it to start upwards slowly.

Added at just over 3.29 on the broker downgrade. Would like a few lower down
if available.
