Stewart, where is the earnings growth?, negative for this year.

Currently estimates looking for a resumption of growth in 2015,
with continuing Euro area weakness this is unlikely imv.

Longer term I can see the attractions.

I would put the price 340-360, plenty cash in hand buying back up to 8mln shares still maintaining divi and Mr bricolidge to come on line, only MMs and scottish un certainty holding this back IMO

How this got near to £4.50 I do not know.

Worth a look close to £3 a share may be?.

Read a peace in the paper the reason for the share drop on Friday, imminent rate rise which could effect mortgages and the money in people's pockets.well,if people cannot afford to move then they spend more updating their present house, plus those who don't have a mortgage and still want to improve their homes through DIY can still do so,B&Q in peterborough yesterday day was very busy as was screwfix.I don't think things are as bad as they are making out ,but we will see in SEPTEMBERS results for the UK side

Drop is less surprising in the context of today's news...

French manufacturing PMI falls to 15-month low of 46.5 in August

Surprise drop today and being so large Maybe a overhang of sells in pipeline although the buys we're exceeding sells to start with

A company the size of Home Depot would be likely to monitor competitor/comparable businesses.

I've no idea if they'll bid. Bids are rare. My thoughts are that, if a bid is contemplated, now is the best time for a year or so.

Without a bid, Kingfisher holders (incl. myself) wait for recovery in Europe.

Home Depot is a massive Co & should expect large sales as USA is prone to disasters, and they do a lot more DIY than UK/Europe,also they could bid for KGF at what premium .would they bid £8 Bln + I doubt it!who knows

Yesterday Kingfisher shares rose about 10p - perhaps in response to strong second quarter figures from Home Depot.

Some buying of Kingfisher for UK/France recovery hopes, and an outside chance of a bid from Home Depot.

Home Depot shares have risen about 50% over the past two years, compared to about 5% for Kingfisher.

Listened, took in,dismissed as IMO,it was a rough guesstimation of rubbish no hint of drop in profits, opened 5 new stores,France & Poland sales down but is compensated by rising sales in Spain,UK,Turkey&Ireland IMHO I think sales at half term will be same as last year or better share price far too low, will wait till SEPTEMBER to see results

This update is not any worse than expected, share price drop is a bit harsh but when the dealers who can read come in at 9oCLOCK this should rise a bit
