bluebird, very interesting on the potential for store rationalisation
longer term, good post - had not seen that.

This article is a couple of months old but interesting as it highlights the possibility of special dividends if the company continues to build a sizeable net cash position.
Also some good comments about the scope for rationalization with the store portfolio longer term : -

Unfortunately this looks to be heading sub £2.60.

At a time when the FTSE is at a 5 year high this is very worrying.

The recent Euro strenght will hit France hard in 2013 imv,
the latest HOME TS showed weak Homebase sales.

More importantly, if there is a negative trading statement, this being a bellweather for the UK and French home improvement markets, it will make the likelihood of a takeover even more likely, the subject has been mentioned so many times in the past and the rumour never diminishes that this co. with its strong positions in the above markets plus Turkey, Poland and its joint venture in Germany is vulnerable particularly with its very low level of indebtedness, a matter of time before the rumour mill starts turning again.

bookbroker 2013 estimates have already fallen signiicantly.

I have 729M pre tax as the consensus - so trading would need to have
weakened again recently.

E I,this was first rns'd in December.Off to the Co-Op as ceo where he was already a non exec. Not new news as such and not as if he's off to a direct competitor of Kingfisher's.

2013 may well be tough for KGF imv.

Look at how France L4L sales which had been strongly positive for a number
or years have now appeared to have turned down.

Longer term prospects very good which a bidder may find attractive.

Essential, I look at the monthly chart and I see that for a co. that has a dominant position in its market, particularly the UK, and this stock has not gone anywhere in the last ten years, and forget dividends for a change.

I think that's a little unfair bookbroker, look at the markets
they operate in - France is the major profit centre as well.

Where are Home Depot when you need them, offers are invited for the business, current management simply unable to generate value for shareholders here, time is ripe to be taken out!

The 2013 forecasts remain too high IMV, I would doubt the downgrade
cycle is over yet.

Looks like more downgrades on the way, so far I have seen EPS for this
year cut by 2% and 4% for 2013.

A couple of very good calls - the last thing the weaker euro
countries need is a stronger euro though.
