27/11/2014 20:05 | Tanzanian power prospects on the horizon Tanzania-based minerals exploration and development company Kibo Mining is conducting a prefeasibility study for a 300MW coal fired power plant in the Rukwa Region of Tanzania’s Southern Highlands. Engineering consulting firm Aurecon was appointed to undertake the study. Kibo CEO Louis Coetzee told press “We are pleased with the acceleration of this study and the appointment of Aurecon. The form is undertaking a review of historically gathered information and the comprehensive nature of the data available enabled them to commit to delivery of the full prefeasibility study in early December this year.” IPP appeal Aurecon’s power generation division leader Ashley Grohn added that Kibo’s decision is another example of private sector enthusiasm for the establishment of power infrastructure in Africa, as the company has identified a growing number of Independent Power Producers (IPPs) embarking on new developments in the continent. “Coal reserves are extensive in the region to the point that alternate energy conversion technologies could be entertained by Kibo in the future,” Ashley said. The Rukwa power plant prefeasibility study will require Aurecon to assess and test various available power plant technologies for performance and feasibility, including boiler technology and cooling system design. Power evacuation and environmental prefeasibility is also being investigated. Economic benefits Ashley said that the study provides Aurecon with another exciting opportunity to leverage its global strength and knowledge in power project development into Africa. Economic modelling tests undertaken by South African university Unisa in 2009 indicated a strong causal relationship between energy consumption in Tanzania and sustainable economic growth. If the coal-fired power station goes ahead the socio-economic benefits for the south-west region and for Tanzania are tipped to be substantial, both during construction and operation. Following completion of the study, Aurecon will assist Kibo Mining with the next steps to enter full feasibility at the start of 2015. 27/11/2014 15:44 | If the theory is correct that this is placing shares doing the damage, then since the 17 Nov when we got back to 1.5p (breakeven point for the last placing amount on 8 Oct) we have traded 61m+ shares on LSE alone (not including the amount on ISDX). So how many more share of the 53,333,333 (after we deduct the Director shares taken on the placing) placing shares are left? Can’t be much can it? JD | jdwag
27/11/2014 15:28 | This is a right old game, only because they know what's happening on the inside and we don't. It's guesswork for us. I can see why they do it. Someone from a recent placing obviously is dumping some at 2/2.05(if they can get that price) so the mm's don't need any shares and that's why the(real) offer isn't going up ! If you want to sell to them when they already have a line of stock you'll get what they offer....1.85. That's how I'm reading this. Could be completely wrong...but I don't think so. | michaelsadvfn
