And to consider this is an uber cautious Beaufort worse case scenario - 50% off 'fire sale valuation'.... Sonics valuation of over a quid a year or so from now looks cautious in my view & that is why I parked a huge wedge here! All good :)

Good post by Kronan:Kronan5782 210 postsRE: BeaufortDespite recent rapid revisions to the Tanzania Mining Act (including increased royalties, government ownership, and prohibiting external arbitration) Kibo Mining (KIBO.L) continues to advance its integrated Mbeya Coal to Power Project (MCPP). While navigating these changes to the Mining Act will undoubtedly be challenging for mineral producers, we see limited impact on Kibo given that the MCPP is a power generating project that is closely aligned with Tanzania's national development plan and has the support of local, regional and national governments. Following recent meetings with the Government departments, Kibo and TANESCO, the state utility company, have been instructed by the Tanzanian Ministry of Energy and Minerals (MEM), now under new management, to prepare a final Memorandum of Understanding that will govern further development of the MCPP and the Power Purchase Agreement (PPA). Our valuation is based on a standalone power and coal projects' NPVs when considering a 300MW power plant and 1.5Mtpa coal production. The combined unrisked and ungeared valuation is £206m based on the parameters set out in the 2016 IBFS. We then apply a 50% risk factor while we wait for a finalised PPA and Mining Right for the project. We expect Kibo's risk profile to improve gradually as it brings the MCPP through the commercial agreement stage and secures financing. These milestones are expected to occur in Q4 2017 and Q1 2018 respectively, which will significantly de-risk the project and drive a re-rating of the stock. As such, our risk adjusted NPV is £103m or 28.6p per share. To this we then add 2p per share to account for Kibo's 57.1% equity interest in Katoro Gold (KAT.L) and assuming in-situ gold values of US$40/oz derived from our selected peer group valuation. To this end, we maintain our Speculative Buy on the stock with a revised target price of 30.6p per share. Read the full report

Well now that's a bullish enough target price from our friends in Beaufort - 30.6p would do me very nicely indeed !!

It is customary for Tanz to involve AG in such important deals to check the legal side.
For the same reason we employed Norton to do that for us

Question. Why does the AG's Office need to get involved in the PPA MOU? Why not just leave it to the MEM and TANESCO?

Dudley, you can't win an argument based on bad language. Catchingmice has stated his position. He has also put his money where his mouth is. He obviously has his reasons for taking a negative view just as we look for the positives.

I'll be really annoyed if we hit bid 7.25 'before' Wednesday - trouble is when this flys there will be no stopping it & definitely no way to buy in other than token £200 - £500 type purchases - a very tightly held stock a few people myself included with significant holdings. GLA
