So you don’t think any stimulus likely...
If the world builds to counter any recession then they need steel and likely MN, and I doubt battery cars will slow up development either

Guys what planet are you on? I would be amazed if anyone is signing commodity contracts right now when demand is falling off a cliff. Entering into production when the world is entering into a recession would not be overly prudent.

Focus should be preservation and coming out the other side once demand returns.

With you on the patience, but lets not conflate the global response to Coronavirus with any issues in the leadership of either CAI or KRS.

I want news ASAP on Keras. If we're not getting a spade in the ground in March, I want to know why. I won't be baying for blood, I just want to understand what's holding us up.

I remain positive. Once Keras is cash generative, I have no doubts that Russell and Dave will be looking for a Calidus MkII type opportunity for us, and for all their family and friends that have equally got skin in the Keras game.

They say patience is a virtue but after all these years mine is wearing thinner and thinner with each passing day. Russell is going to have to go some if we are to get the mining licence AND start production by the end of March as promised. Share price falling every day and even Calidus down over 12% on the ASX overnight.

Bigger than average volume, coincidence or ML imminent. I guess we'll find out soon. 20m trade at mid price is certainly uncommon in these parts.

Ed,

The ML will be issued. The president of Togo need the people on his side. Jobs for locals, they seriously need them.

Hi GD,

Good find, will be interesting to see what the scoping study for manganese sulphate production shows. Now that the election is over and no regime change has occurred hopefully the gov will now issue the ML.

Regards,
Ed.

I hope this has not been posted previously. Its a little dated but still relative.

Tesla turning to manganese!

Elsewhere, manganese is becoming a more important element in the production of batteries, particularly for use in electric cars.

Tesla currently uses nickel-cobalt-aluminium (NCA) batteries for the EVs at its Gigafactory in Nevada, but new batteries made from nickel, manganese and cobalt (NMC) have lower raw material costs, a reduced charging time and a longer lifespan.

Manganese sells for less than $US1 a pound versus around $US14 a pound for cobalt, which for Tesla accounts for half the price of the vehicle.

Tesla boss Elon Musk and Panasonic – which supplies the batteries for Tesla vehicles – have both been very public about their push to eliminate cobalt from their products.

There is speculation Tesla may be switching to manganese-based batteries after it inked a five-year partnership with a prominent NMC battery researcher who has been tasked with reducing battery costs for the company.

Other large purchasers of new battery technology are also shifting to NMC batteries, including 3M, BMW, General Electric Company and Duracell.

“We’re only just starting to see the tip of the iceberg really around that,” Mr Marston said.

“As the world switches from internal combustion to electric vehicles and these mobile battery applications, manganese is very much seeing demand on that side grow.”

KRS was highlighted on the Bowl BB recently, and looking at the chart, this may be the bottom. There has been hefty director buying in recent months, mostly @ 0.40p, though in January, the ceo doubled his holding, buying 73M @ 0.16p for £120k.

Any thoughts.

Hofan111,

Well done on averaging down your KRS holding. I am holding tight to my CAI shares. If I get the chance to get average down by selling one of my other investments at a profit before RL gives us good news from Togo, I too will buy more KRS.

I had to sign an international markets declaration on iii then I was good to go. Sold at AUD0.265, could have waited a while longer however, felt KRS currently valued at £4m was a bargain not to be missed. Managed to substantially reduce my average too. Now fingers and toes crossed for RL to deliver! Hope other brokers sort their issues out soon so you folks can trade too, seems some of them have made a complete mess of this.
