I sold out last week. Didn't like the state of the FOOTSE so cashed in and ran. One point of note for holders is that there have been a large number of "O" trades at prices way above the market price in the past few weeks. Last one I noticed was around 4.50 so that could possibly make a short term target.

Looking at the spread today was very entertaining. I thought I was losing money hand over fist so had a look at the chart.

MM's arsing about with the spread. It varied between .75p and 10p.

I think the MM's are trying to get hold of these, there must be a demand.

So... they'll not get hold of mine.

It,ll just increase its trading range, making it a solid buy and hold stock - especially with a policy of buy backs and a damn good divi. Just tuck it away in mho. and look at it again in a couple of years !!

How high can this go,before retrenching I wonder....125000share buyback,seems to be the filip for the rise.This surely is only the start of buybacks.

The share buy backs have commenced I see. This is the best news possible for existing shareholders and will give solid support to the price.

Thanx Denny for info and views. It seems ejection from the Footsie 100 has one the price some good, must already have been factored in I guess, The share buy back policy may be biting too. Has to be good medium / long term. I,ll buy some more.

It may well be that the selling has already taken place in anticipation as far as income (as opposed to tracker) funds are concerned, so the effect if any on the 19th may be very small imo.

Any thoughts on the effect on the share price if KEL leaves the FTSE100 as seems likely? I would have thought the price would be depressed as the tracker funds unloaded but it's up today so far. The ejection won,t be until the 19th Sept so perhaps the drop will occur then?

Hello,

I agree long term this stock is a good buy with the dividend limiting risk to a certain extent.
Having said that I am shorting this stock at the moment (and have done since it was 436 on 3rd June). I expect this stock to fall to around 380 which should be the support level for this stock IMHO.
If you look at previous ex dividend dates over the last few years the shares always seem to fall much more than is warranted by the dividend payment, and tends to drift lower for some weeks. Possible reason is that being a good old boring stock that after people hold on for the dividend they tend to bail out over the next few weeks after the ex divi date, as they see no real action with this stock.
This is however not true if you look at a chart over the last few years you will see that it is quite volatile between 360p & 440p giving great opportunities to trade this stock both short & long.

mornin guys..I am also in for the dividend but it is frustrating to see such a relatively poor share price performance from what is arguably the best company in the sector. Any lower and I,ll have to buy more!

Nothing wrong with Kelda. The stock has just gone x d and at the same time the news re new possible increases in charges has been announced and as this will not be resolved for some time uncertainty remains. Also the stock as all utilities is a defensive stock and the market is looking for growth rather than income.Kelda is also likley to be out of the 100 and back to the 250 which will also cause some selling.
I will hold for divi as I believe u need a mix of stock. There is also a possibility of some selling kelda and looking to buy Northumbria water when it moves this month from aim to main market.

Tally..possibly the reason but unfounded in my honest opinion..kel is in a different management and performance league. Just look at their record. No sweat and more money to come fromt he regs soon. Have a nice w/end.

I think buyers are scared to get in just in case KEL do a UU. on them!!!!!
This may not go north until more certainty is forthcoming.
