Am sitting here not believing this fall but from charts a steep rise usually follows such a fall, so have been sitting poised for a few days having added at 5.06 but now waiting for???????

Yes, just read this today - does explain the fall which always happens with this share ex-div anyway

Am looking to top up - utilities could extend gains if rates dont increase anymore!

Hi chaps..Hello again verynervy! ( UKC board and others ! ) Still no worries here - KEL fell on rumour of bid for Northumbrian Water. Good either way to my mind. If successful then growth on the cards..just think what this excellent management could do with an incompetent set up like Northumbrian!! ..and they sure aint going to chop the dividend either..and if not successful then a rebound to more normal 540 plus levels and slower growth...cant lose !! ( says he with a twnkle ) Good luck all.

... Me too, but I have been cheeky in the first instance and put a limit order in for 491p good for a month. This share sometimes gives some wild price spikes sometimes, especially early morning, who knows it may just get filled soon !!!!

mornin guys...interesting little share what! trading at 549p just before ex divi then 545 early on the day after - that would have been a good time to sell to buy back later ( hindsight is wonderful thing ! ) but, even now the equivalent price is 5.462p compared to 5.49p if you allow for the divi payment..so not doin so badly...and no sweat longer term..might be tempted to top slice around 550p andbuy in again on the dip!

If history is any guide a good price to get in at is between 500 & 510p. that is when I will be buying, preferably nearer 500p than 510p.

Very lucky - I`d been thinking after looking at the chart that I would top up around 512ish as there seems to be support around 510ish - would certainly buy at 431!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I read your post with interest. I notice that early xd there seems to be a very high proportion of automated deals, mainly buys. I am not into conspiracy theory but is it possibly in the interest of the MM to trigger auto transactions at slightly high prices with a view to buying over the next fortnight at lower prices.

As anticipated - holding up very very well..less than the dividend payment down so far and that will come back shortly I think. Good old KEL!!

well, todays excellent rise in the share price (11p+)will / should more than half cover the anticipated fall tomorrow when it goes x d - prior to resuming its upward climb again. Delighted to hold these longer term...next one up will be UKC !! good luck all.

Well I got out of these on 18 August @ 541p which in hindsight looks now to have been a little premature. If you look at the history of XD with Kelda I think you will find there is normally quite a substantial fall which is accounted for by the dividend. Then historically after that it seems to drift lower for a couple of weeks with the end result that the drop is far more than is accounted for by the dividend.
I do not know why but if you check the charts you will see that this has been happening twice yearly for some time now. This is not to say that this means this will happen this time.
My theory was this anomaly was due to a trickle of investors getting rid of the stock after the dividend which then snowballs for some time. If you also look at the historical charts though you will find after this period of poor performance the stock then recovers (I have bought several times during the underperformance) and continues on the upward path it has been on since eary 2001.

Well! Well! That's another third of my long term holding gone at 548p. xd tomorrow and a price of 520p likely. I guess some will take my sale as a buy signal! I just like to sell when everything is looking good.

zodaz...I agree there may be a downturn when it goes xd but - as per last time - I dont think it,ll last very long nor be very big...this is (inmho ) an excellent defensive stock to hold..it also got a good hype in the Independent yesterday, hence the rise this morning followed by some prob nervous profit taking...got to be sound; especially while the markets are trading water waiting for the Yanks to sort it out. I topped up on the dip to 533 the other day so am happy at the moment and genuinely believe this will hit the £6 marker fairly soon...good luck.
