The general market is still v. jumpy, with no clear concensus on which way it's going. I'm plumping for unexciting defensive utility shares like Kelda, (I think I'm a bear), which at least are paying a decent dividend.The recent rise is a as a result of the defensive mood generally. With the downside potential of the Offwat report defined, there will be no nasty surprises- 'tho expect a sharp downturn when it goes ex-dividend.

Well sofar uu is rising and kel is stable - this speaks for the markets views - but one thing is for sure the proposals are the worst the companies will fare and its all about fighting for improvements now!!

Have put a sell limit order on these - just incase!!

Have just read on value board that ofwat is due to report tomorrow on price rises.

Kel has been going up and uu has been going down of late - interesting to see if this is how the decision pans out!!

I hope not for the sake of the oldfashioned concept of INTEGRITY.

Okay then we know this is a solid share but but but if you look at the last year it has behaved like a growth share and not utility - and its still rising........fast!

So is there news we dont know about - this is usually the reason ...dont get me wrong im not complaining just wish I had a bucket full!!!!!!!!!

Have held for some time and this share has steadily increased in value and increased divs. It is thought of as the best run water company in the city and though I keep on being tempted to take profits - here I remain!

I raise my overflowing glass to kelda and all that float in her!!

And still rising...any views appreciated. ( Looks like the Mail on Sunday write up on the 16th May was a load of codswallop as thought at the time ! share price up by around 17p p share in spite of going ex D !)

morning...interesting but by no means unforseen..fgeel sure all this has been allowed for in the stock price. Divi is safe inmho and capital position strong. It seems as if these sort of " rumours " go the rounds from time to time to shake people out of their holdings so the big boys can snap em up more cheaply!.
Thanx for the post though..keep it coming. All views welcomed but I shant be disposing of my little holding for a good while yet.

kel currently 110th and has cap of £1832m (£1611m)

100th has cap of £2006m (£1335m)

mkh - still happy you sold one third? City likes the new business plan it would seem. Have increased my holding, in the believe that medium to long this is a very safe haven stock in a well managed company - and provides a damn site better home for any savings ( @ 5% plus net )than the old BS,s ! lol

The peak and trough trend lines are converging. The price is around 3X turnover. The yield is still over 5%.
I am a long term holder and have today sold a third of my holding. Anyone like to interpret the long term chart for KEL?

Noticed that this share took a trip down to 411 yesterday maxidi. Don't forget that in November?, the water regulator is gonna announce its changes to the industry.

Am sure that KEL will come out fine because it seems a well run business, but uncertainty usually causes shares to fall in value. Barclays, however, seem to have increased their holding.

Recently, this share seems to be a good sell above 4.30 (4.50 perhaps a little too optimistic) and a buy around the 4.15 level.

So happy to trade within that range for now.

Still awaiting my divi. to go into my account at IMIWEB.8 days after div.date.
Is everybody waiting or is it just me!!!!
