27/6/2013 17:22 | Some big buyers today and a lot of shares going through... The Company announces that it was notified today that following the purchase today of 68,947 shares, Guy Naggar's beneficial interest in the ordinary shares of the company is 270,000 ordinary shares of 5p each, equivalent to 5.08 per cent of the issued share capital of the Company of that class. | davidosh
27/6/2013 15:54 | This looks a cracking deal and shows that Judges is not getting phased by the need to do larger deals. Slightly disappointed the vendors didn't take any stock. | droid
27/6/2013 13:50 | Electronica I have just spoken with a shareholder who spoke with DC earlier today. DC confirmed to him that the 4.7% organic growth number in today's RNS relates to businesses owned by JDG as of 01-Jan-12. So it excludes those businesses acquired in H1 2012. Cheers, Martin | shanklin
27/6/2013 13:42 | This looks like a cracking acquisition, just under 6 x the latest pre tax profit and that includes the £1m earn out for a company that has expanded at 31% CAGR in the past 5 years. I'm very surprised at the muted response in the share price but this will sort itself out in time. Organic growth slightly down but I don't think that this could possibly include the acquisitions from last year (imho). All in all very good news for me as this is my largest holding. | kalkanite
27/6/2013 11:34 | Looking at this simply, Judges have added about 600k ( after interest costs ) to this year's profits resulting in hike in forecast eps of about 10%. | droid

27/6/2013 08:26 | Shanklin "So, how is organic growth being defined for them" Organic growth can only be defined as Y-O-Y growth in each individual unit. There can be no other interpretation. So top-line order intake from acquisitions will encompass growth over & above that 4.7%. | electronica
27/6/2013 08:17 | If anybody does speak with DC it would be interesting to know what is meant by "Order intake was strong in the first quarter and more subdued since, resulting in 4.7% organic growth in order intake compared to the first 25 weeks of 2012." Specifically, there were two fast-growing businesses purchased in March 2012. So, how is organic growth being defined for them, or are they outside the number above given that there is no direct comparison available? | shanklin
27/6/2013 07:45 | cornishman "but there is also a trading statement saying that the order book has been subdued since the first quarter" With a good part of the revenues in the Eurozone that "subdued" expectation has (IMHO) been in the price for the last 4 months or so - hence the recent flat (in JDG terms) share price JDG is really a straight play on the building of a major UK scientific instruments conglomerate - I'm backing David C, he hasn't put a foot wrong yest. | electronica
27/6/2013 07:44 | But this is consistent with market expectations: "The Group's trading performance since the beginning of the current financial year has remained satisfactory. Order intake was strong in the first quarter and more subdued since, resulting in 4.7% organic growth in order intake compared to the first 25 weeks of 2012. This is consistent with market expectations for the year as a whole." | orange1
27/6/2013 07:24 | Great news, but there is also a trading statement saying that the order book has been subdued since the first quarter. 'Subdued' is not a word commonly used in JDG statements. | cornishman33
27/6/2013 07:11 | "The Acquisition is expected to be earnings enhancing with immediate effect." Another masterstroke & a biggie this time. Well done guys - onwards & upwards! | electronica

30/5/2013 12:54 | Did you notice those big sells going through yesterday in 4/5,000 batches - they totaled 26,500, that's nearly £350,000 - yet the price didn't move, odd don't you think? | geoffo1
16/5/2013 22:08 | Anyone who attends the Agm will be able to ask questions and that automatically provides an update on how the whole board see the wider picture and potential deals or no deals...whether there will be a trading update remains to be seen ! | davidosh
16/5/2013 13:50 | davidosh There wasn't a trading update at the last AGM. Any reason we might get one this year? | shanklin
16/5/2013 12:57 | An Agm update next week. Nobody coming ? | davidosh

19/4/2013 11:50 | Thanks CantEatValue, Particularly good to hear that David has no plans to retire at the moment, as he is clearly responsible for such a successful strategy. It's disappointing that most of March's share price increase has retraced, but if 20% annual growth can be maintained I will not be selling anytime soon. | cornishman33 |
