Can't disagree with that sb. I do think however that we have made that class what it is by neglect, sometimes with the best of intentions akin to the kind of neglect that is like poor parenting. Making too many allowances. However that happened though it is a big problem and is very difficult to put right .

Trouble is sb when I look at the people out of work many are either physically or mentally incapable of doing the jobs. Restauranteurs want people who can serve the public efficiently and with good grace. In the UK that combination is in short supply. Here in Germany where I spend most of my time it is a real pleasure to go for a meal or even get a coffee. Not often in the UK. The same applies to other jobs such as the farming that you mention. Most would be crippled by the end of the first day if they had to pick vegetables and in any case the farmers would not employ them as they would be losing money. Such is the nature of the UK workforce. Lazy, unhealthy and stupid and I'm afraid it is the British attitude and government neglect that has caused it.

The problem is freedom that there may be a lot of jobs available but there are few people qualified or willng to do them. we have a serious shortage of labour and that will drive inflation.

From Alliance News yesterday:

In London, mining stocks ended among the best blue-chip performers, boosting the FTSE 100. Anglo American rose 7.3%, Glencore added 6.0% and Rio Tinto climbed 3.7%.

"A strong rebound in copper prices from 18-month lows in the last 24 hours, is helping the basic resource sector, with strong gains for the likes of Antofagasta, Glencore and Anglo American, after reports out of China suggested that the Ministry of Finance was considering allowing local governments to bring forward about USD220 billion of infrastructure spending from 2023, into the second part of this year," Hewson added.

Hi Guys
I think we all must appreciate everyone's opinion else a board like this is not worth having. The only caveat to that are the stupid senseless ones. Regarding the economy and the future situation, take it from me after speaking to loads of city people, exporters, property etc etc. There is a very bad feeling except at the moment for Property as there is still a shortage of stock but first time buyers and the low end is getting bad because of the obvious. The Bank of England together with every US and Euro suffer from complete and total incompetence together with having the impossible job of predicting the future. But the future is not good. Russia,China inflation, poverty, global Heat, helicopter money globally etc etc. someone has to pay for it and it's us. I still think JLP is a great Company but can't swim against the tide Good Luck All

vt1, for the first time EVER! there are more available jobs in the UK than unemployed and the UK population has grown too over the years. So unlikely any recession soon. I think the BOE this time has it correct. Believe what you want.

BTW, when do you expect recession to occur? this year? mild recession? severe one? ...

I also, think BOE will be correct IF a recession hits UK it will be a mild one.
