Still very much being developed, It's more so commercial vehicles that fuel cell systems are being deployed in at the moment. As the traditional lithium Ion batteries are no where near good enough to power a truck or a bus.

Coincidentally, Johnson Matthey's plant in slough has been earmarked as the first hydrogen power station, the aim of doing so cited by minsters was to make the M4 the world first hydrogen highway.

Is fuel cell technology using platinum still being developed for the auto industry, or have decisions been made that vehicles will only use recharging batteries.

I think the auto industry is a bit of a red herring, yes it's the primary demand driver for palladium but Palladium is a 'by product' of platinum production.

The longer the the retrenchment of mines and workers continue the greater the pal deficit and disparity to the plat ratio will become.

Auto's will eventually need to retool, yet it won't be driven by cost but a supply point of view, when they're only using a few grams per every 30k vehicle then a few hundred quid on the ounce is nothing and nowhere near enough for the entire auto and catalyst industry to change what they are doing, what will make them retool is the accessibility of the metals and on that basis I think the process to retool (which takes several years) has already begun and probably at least 12 months ago

Northam's interim's are packed with useful info re the PGM market.

The palladium market remains in meaningful deficit estimated at 1 million oz due to the increasing demand for autocatalysts.

It is fair to conclude that at some point in the future, platinum will substitute palladium.

The price received for rhodium averaged USD2 427/oz during the period under review, an increase of 95.7% from the previous corresponding period (H1 2018: USD1 240/oz).

The increased deficit expected in rhodium will continue as supplies contract and demand in the autocatalyst sector follows a similar trajectory as palladium with the exception that in the case of rhodium, there is no real substitute.

If platcro is late, why did Leon not inform the shareholders much earlier? Answer: Leon and company feel nothing for shareholders. What's changed?

I never imagined this would happen and platcro would be late. These are the causes for the share price dropping further and shareholder value being destroyed. Confidence and Trust in management once again gets shot down. Leon, u talk to much. TRY LISTENING

Now u know why Leon and company put that article on the jubilee website with AMPLATS. Leon is so readable. The man continues aiding in the destruction of the share price. How could Leon have not known this info about Northam. Absolutely pathetic.

Jubilee doing the downward dog

Sounds like there are going to be delays on one of their projects? Typical of Leon to deliver everything late

Don't forget Kabwe was supposed to be a fast track project

JLP are pre-processing the PlatCro platinum at PlatCro and then Northam are further refining it at Eland. The pre-processing started in January. In November, JLP said the further refining of platinum at Eland would start in February 2019, Northam are now saying May 2019. It’s worth noting that JLP bought PlatCro chrome AFTER saying Northam would start the further refining in February 2019 so the addition of PlatCro chrome may have changed the Eland refurbishment timelines. Northam say chrome processing will start at Eland in March. They also say the refurbishment is on time. Will Northam be further refining PlatCro chrome as well as PGMs? Important to note the 2 stage processing of the PlatCro PGMs. JLP will presumably book some profit for the pre-processing that started in January because it will have enhanced the value of the material. Add to that additional Hernic profit due to further ramp up and higher palladium prices and DCM fine chrome in Q1, and the production data for Q1 should show an excellent quarter-on-quarter improvement irrespective of any delay in the further refining of PGMs at Eland. Also, if Eland can further refine the PGMs faster than JLP is delivering preprocessed waste from January, they can presumably catch up in Q3 so that quarter’s production data might be better than it otherwise would be.

I'm all for anticipating the directions of certain process's for a buying and selling point of view but can we all stop second guessing project managers from different companies, who surely have a prince 2 qualification

The way the jlp contracts have been set up to date, if the other party causes a delay jlp end up with a greater share of the deal. So we will see how this plays out in the coming months.

Those comments clearly refer to Northam’s own tailings dam, including chrome extraction. Our material may follow the same timescales but it does not specifically state that.

I could be reading it wrong, but does the Northam statement in their interims regarding timings at Eland not refer to the Eland mine's own tailings material?
