Ffaffaa: not sure which figures you have been reading but they are vastly out. Have you read the last set of reports? If not focus on the bond discount, the big reduction in pension and the track record of crystal amber. Also going back a few hundred posts or so here will also give you a better insight.

Just look back at the posts. Debt restructure/cheap buy back is the key. In other words those holding debt have to right off/lose money this time for the shares to have future value.

1. Possible debt buy back but will they agree and accept a loss? Company still has profits to service this debt.
2. Debt for equity? Dilution?
3. Company needs to grow it's earnings rapidly to meet future debt obligations.

All tricky.

Johnson Press - the publishers of the "i" newspaper and the Scotsman -

Share price rise?

I'm putting this down to all the news articles that OWEN SMITH has generated..

He personally has more or less doubled the ciculation of political news articles nationwide.

WELL DONE OWEN SMITH - WIN OR LOSE - you have done more for putting LABOUR in the news then anyone else in the past 30 years!!!

What's interesting here, and this is very speculative, is that JPR has looked insolvent for years. However, its debt is in the form of bonds, which are now trading at a deep discount to par.

So, if the company is able to raise some cash from asset disposals, and buy back bonds at a deep discount, then suddenly it might actually have some value.

They also seem to have done something interesting with the pension deficit.

Totally speculative. Look at the EBITDA. Although also, on the downside, look at the horrible declines in circulation & ad revs. So it looks finely balanced to me.

I'm long, but in the intelligent punts part of my portfolio, not the main bit.

Let's see what happens.

Regards, Paul.

Was over 40p during first half of this year (after hefty falls previous years). Would be good to revisit 40p before any potential corporate activity ...

Yep mrx, but it will be steady as she goes before jack pot, more likely to see measured responses when bonds are being repaid and talk of t/o, though that unlikely to be considered till we reach above £1.50 ish but what do I know I'm sleeping on floor boards tell a lie we have his and her rugs.

I have just started my own thread called BIKWIK and Technical Analysis. The first postings are on VLK. I will post lots more stuff as time goes by. I'll do my best to get it right, but no doubt i'll slip up sometimes. Still, hope it helps. (scroll back through BIKWIK for JPR stuff).

Nice - holding from 10.5 but no rush to sell.

RNS to come in due course - no rush for that either it would seem!

Keep the faith.
