Yes the buyer has been around for a week or so and convinced sent derampers in to try to scare off holders. Also think some shorters have had a kick up the ass!

Interest looks to be picking up on the back of the recent presentation which highlighted the crazy level of potential value here (many multiples of the current shareprice).
The upcoming farm out process still to come will no doubt see further fireworks!

Looking forward to the field development plans for what seems like an awful lot of recoverable oil albeit in less than ideal physical conditions. The volumes as they are de-risked may throw the project into "go" mode.

Be amazing to have others to drill the new targets and release some back costs (including Equinors's costs) to JOG's bank account.

Will keep a close eye on plans for satellite fields to see what might happen in view of the hint that they are tight oil discoveries.

Sellers running out at this level.

Will be watching the live oil price chart to see how The Saudi and Opec+ cuts start affecting the API numbers at 9.30 pm Tuesday night.

I think that the stars are aligning beautifully now for JOG and their timing is pitch perfect. Oil markets are continuing their recovery from the shock of last year and the projected forecast is for 6Mbd of demand to be added back this year - 2/3 of the demand lost in 2020. As demand recovers and supply restrictions are eased this year, spare capacity is expected to decline back towards normalised levels by 2022/3 and a medium consensus, conservative price of 60 dollars per barrel.

Becoming a tough nut to crack this 1st resistance at 1.69But despite some moderate selling yesterday then this level seems pretty solid and at some point we will move higher

mariopeter yes Johan S sources electricity from shore I believe instead of burning it's own gas. I'm sceptical a major oil field will help the planet however even if the guys and gals offshore run their hairdryers and other bits of kit on fjord power.. I believe the Norwegians are further ahead than us in this regard but have the scale of deposits & the $ to finance it. For JOIL its a nice PR distraction and by no stretch what an investor should be concerning themselves with.
As Jersey need to spin the wheel & go exploring (again..) then good luck to them because they'll need it.. these forum posts will probably be identical in another few years and then they'll really run out of road. As I've said I got in on Verb as a discovery is a rare thing these days and that's always exciting in the way a lottery ticket is exciting (but not sensible). Appraisal is half the battle and what they found is peanuts and Equinor walked straight out. The reality is any discovery is likely to be too small to be useful to anybody otherwise it would have been drilled already. And the idea of Equinor coming back is pure fantasy.

"Dynamic reservoir modelling of the P50 stock tank oil initially in place ("STOIIP") case has recently been completed by Schlumberger Oilfield UK Plc ("Schlumberger"), using their proprietary INTERSECT* high resolution reservoir simulator. Such new and comprehensive dynamic models provide a robust forecast for the P50 case for the Buchan oil field, having fully incorporated all available subsurface information and successfully history matched 36 years of production data. This project workstream has now been independently peer reviewed as part of a wider scope reviewing the development concept by Vysus Group (formerly Lloyds Register's Energy Business), a global engineering and technical consultancy."

This is like a line out of "My Cousin Vinny"!

Sorry was referring to stuff nearby with that statement. Yes buchan itself is fractured but that isn’t to its detriment and it’s produced a fair bit that’s fact. That it’s well connected means repsol knew exactly what was going on and how much oil there is. They had a big team working it. With some new wells a buchan redevelopment will produce a little more oil, however the single important point is it falls waaaaaay short of what’s required to pay for a new North Sea platform. the rest of the industry is well aware of that and so aren’t interested. Regarding Faults, remapping happens all the time it’s a red herring as the field is well connected. Faults matter when they disconnect parts of the field. The depletion is only really relevant for drilling, certainly adds some risk but the wells will be doable. Horizontal wells will contact more rock so you’ll get reserves a bit quicker but you won’t get more oil out in total here. Water injection will certainly need to sicceed to get tens more millions of barrels out. All academic though, it’s too small and there’s nothing nearby worth a dime to help. And now they’re talking up more exploration before they’ve actually built anything? That also tells you something.,

Yes thanks for your time on that Jts. Appreciate your view but more importantly the time you took to type that.

I feel the numbers will look after themselves in the NPV calculations but focussing in on your particular expertise. You state "It's all terrible stuff in tight and broken up rock that is highly uneconomic to go after". How does that blend with the history that the field produced 160mmbo using its own natural field pressures for 30 years without the need for horizontal drilling and water injection techniques (which incidentally are fairly new techniques planned to be deployed)?

You do know there are companies around who specialise in extracting oil from even more depleted fields than Buchan.

We all know the geology of the wider Buchan area and indeed the field itself has been difficult at times which is probably why they are doing so much "polishing" and deploying every possible de-risk technique available today. The field that "just kept producing" is how Buchan was described which intimates that former producers did not know what was there and why it was still producing BUT when the rig gave up the ghost they abandoned the thing on the basis that, in their view, the project had more than excelled budgeted returns.... but it was still producing through own field pressure.

It must be good that the vertical faults have now been identified which were not known to previous producers too or what was your view on that? Seems to me Repsol Sinopec did not know what on earth was going on but why would they care? Perhaps that too was a new technique ie finding the vertical faults.

Mistakes about investment decisions happen in oil... you only have to look at Shell selling its Indian oil reserves to Cairn for little money and they turned out to be giants. Perhaps Equinor will have another look even though they sold out. Maybe the whole thing just does not sit with their future maybe it does now.

The overall impression you give is that JOG is a sham but that does not quite stick with me. There are too many oilly people impressed with them including a very esteemed advisor to the board.

A discussion.
