Datatit, ramping as ever without any basis or analysis

Facts are the company has issued a trading statement, in reality nothing changes until they announce results which due to the trading statement are lower than previously estimated.

Nike did the same and got hammered as well.

This likely is a long term buy, but if we go into a recession then people’s spending habits are effected which is not good for this sector.

Hi EII'd always anticipated that Regis would start buying shares following their revised requirements, in terms of BoD shareholdings, of the LTIP in 2022. But he has bought zilch. The requirement is to hold shares worth 200% of their remuneration. Which should follow that the lower the share price the greater need for the BoD to purchase more shares, but they have up to 5 years to meet this requirement.Think Regis is on circa £730k, he was given gratis 966,066 shares when he was appointed (Sept 2022), to compensate for a lost bonus from his previous employer. it would be wrong IMO for these shares to be included but I'm guessing they are even though they were freebies. So his holding is worth less than double his salary, but as previously posted he didn't buy at less than £1, and has 5 years to attain the required holding. I'mNot holding my breath that he will buy.

Yes the BOD not buying is quite surprising and concerning at the same time. But how low could the tide turn for JD? Unless there is some known accounting shenanigans happening in the background and the directorate is aware of it?!

Well may be harder to believe that the BOD appear not to have bought a single share between them post the latest RNS.

If there is incredible value here you might expect to see some BOD buying ?.. but silence on that front.

Next is forecasting PBT 5% higher than JD, with a market cap 76% higher than JD rising, whereas JD is still falling.
Cash: JD has £1.5 billions, Next about £100 millions.
Net Asset: JD has £2.6 billions, Next about £1.2 billions.
Quite hard to believe!

This seems to be a bargain at these levels. Will recover at some point, with a decent market share and offering

The share price will stabilize around this level until the full year results and company projections for 2025 in the month of March.
No hope for an upside any earlier. Hope the 2025 projections are rosy.
I hope Nike will publish the next quarter before JD puts out any figures.

Down over 30% in a couple of weeks.
A severe crash by any standards.
A violent reaction.

Bought a few more today, that is it, average price about 118p I will not chase them down further.

No problem, Thats my understanding anyway. It's up to individual investors as to whether or not they value this on the statutory numbers or not, and whether they are happy with said adjustments (as with all companies).

Take a look at their interims in terms of adjusted pbt and the statutory number.Last year about 46% of the adjustments were associated with divestments and impairments rather than the non cash put and call options. Plus they have now acquired the remaining 50% of Iberia so no further adjustments for options associated with the previous minority holders. There is still the Genesis Topco options but that can go either way, plus/minus on the statutory numbers.

too complicated to understand.

last year a £900m+ profit drastically reduced by adjustments of £100's of millions because of the present day value of options.

Same this year, a decent pre tax profit predicted, but with adjustments to come.
What the hell all of that means is difficult to understand, don't like the fancy treasury boys dabbling in derivatives and wiping away a big chunk of the profit.

I will make my usual assumption that the so called experts do not understand these financial operations either.
