Owning this share is painful. 2022 was a disaster, and while the whole O&G sector ran ahead I held on. Now, this seems primed for a better 2023 but it's going down again! We need Montara back on line and quickly. Sort it out Blakey.

Oil over $80 and heading in the right direction after good news on employment numbers in the US, which bodes well for interest rates

Well good luck but to sell now imo is taking a big risk when news could drop at any time, patience is key here because imo there is every probability the share price will move up sharpy

pug - very much doubt that as, if it was thought to be the most likely timeline for completing the inspection and remedial work in situ, it would have been considerably more cost effective to tow the FPSO to a SE Asian dry dock/shipyard to carry out the work, as we almost certainly would have seen the FPSO back in production far more quickly.

I've pencilled in July 23 when Montara becomes fully operational. I've learned to take the glass half empty approach with JSE.

L2: opened 77p v 78p / closed 2 v 1 / 76p v 77p (the 1 x 78p, 1 x 79p, 5 x 80p and 1 x 86p)

Strange price action this afternoon: more than 350k bought at or above the full 77p ASK price without movement. It would seem that MM SING on the ASK has a line of stock to dispose of that they are happy to let go at 77p.

There were said to be small repairs remaining on two tanks, one of the repairs was underway at the time of the RNS and the other had a small number of defects to be addressed. That was almost 2 months ago, you'd think by now the repairs were complete so the delay we're witnessing is probably down to bureaucracy?

-- Oil cargo tank 2C: the site of the original hull defect which resulted in the small release of oil in June 2022 has been removed and a permanent repair has now been completed. Initial visual inspection of the tank confirms the overall condition to be good, with a small number of minor defects to be addressed.

-- Ballast water tank 4S: the bulkhead location of the defect identified in August 2022 has been repaired. Several smaller defects identified as part of a wider inspection of tank 4S are currently being repaired.

I do not get it - why does it take so long - those rust and cracks reparations ... I worked in a foundry ... and was in the navy ... so am familiar with the physical process ... where seems to be a problem?

imho real job takes 2 months ... then one has to add on difficult environment, certification, governmental approval ...

can one explain the real process ... major steps ... and our (supposed) expanded/preventive stage atm ... TIA

The Fed minutes are released at 7pm i think a lot will hinge what is announced regarding interest rates etc to what happens to oil prices in the short term.i think the drop has been overdone and will recover soon after the announcement imo

FT has just published an article on uk energy bills.. relevant bit being

"Analysts have sharply reduced their estimates for domestic energy bills after unseasonably warm weather across Europe in recent weeks has led to lower gas usage on the continent.

Martin Young of Investec bank, who has a record of accurately predicting the level of the price cap that dictates energy bills for the majority of British households, said he anticipates the cap to reduce to about £3,460 a year in April based on typical usage, dropping to £2,640 a year in July and hitting just over £2,700 in October.

The price cap, which is revised every three months by energy regulator Ofgem, is currently at £4,279 a year on average. However, consumers have been partially shielded by the government’s support scheme, which limits the price per unit of energy suppliers can charge customers."

RSI topping out - unless the catalysts of infil results and montara arrive soon - then expect a technical reversal, as 80p becomes the resistance at this point. Won't be too much of a reversal, just a technical sell off. We could see the 70p to 75p range again, before montara news etc.

Banged its head on 80p, right where charts suggested it would on the support / resistance line. Needs good volume to make further progress, probably needs good news to generate that.
