Recent discussions among investors on ADVFN for ITV plc reflect a mixture of optimism and caution regarding the company's future, particularly in light of persistent takeover rumors and fluctuations in advertising revenue. Several participants noted that ITV's valuation purportedly approximates around 125p per share, with some suggesting that a bid could ideally push the share price to around 145p. A key sentiment echoed in these discussions was captured by a user who stated, “Whether this oft mooted takeover happens or not, ITV offers good value at current levels regardless,” highlighting a belief in the underlying strength of the company despite its current challenges.
Financially, ITV anticipates a 6-7% decline in advertising revenue year-over-year for Q4, leading to concerns regarding near-term performance. However, the broader outlook for the UK advertising market appears optimistic, with several participants suggesting a rebound could manifest in 2025. In the midst of this, one user pointedly remarked, “The global advertising market is expected to sail past $1 trillion... No wonder vultures are circling ITV.” This illustrates not only the speculative nature surrounding ITV’s stock but also the strategic position shareholders find themselves in, including notable discussions about Liberty Global's stake and potential interest in taking the company private. Overall, investor sentiment remains cautiously optimistic, balancing the potential for a strategic takeover against the backdrop of financial performance challenges.

During the week of December 4 to December 10, 2024, ITV plc engaged in a series of share buyback transactions, purchasing a total of 388,881 ordinary shares across four days. The transactions were conducted under the share buyback programme initiated earlier this year and approved by shareholders at the Company's Annual General Meeting in May. The highest purchase price per share during this period was 73.85 pence on December 10, while the lowest was 72.35 pence on December 4. Upon completion of these transactions, ITV holds 120,479,277 shares in treasury, reflecting a strategic move to enhance shareholder value.
ITV's ongoing share buyback strategy indicates its commitment to returning capital to shareholders amid a challenging market environment. The company’s operations revolve around maintaining shareholder confidence and potentially stabilizing stock performance amid fluctuating market conditions. Following these transactions, ITV’s total number of ordinary shares decreased to approximately 3.81 billion, further consolidating its capital structure in line with shareholder interests.

bou - go to the link below and register for a free account. In the Ownership Breakdown section they have a good breakdown related to what you are asking. Eg they say the ‘general public’ own 8.72% of ITV - after excluding all other holder types. |
A true accurate figure of the percentage of small share holders in a traded company is most useful. Does anyone here know where to access this information. Without any information, I can only guess that over 20% in ITV are small share holders. Good news about the tie-up with Youtube, and ITV. It means global access with VPN. |
