"A merger between the two production giants could create a combined entity valued at approximately £2.8bn. RedBird IMI’s £1.15bn acquisition of All3Media was based on a 12x profit multiple, which, if applied to ITV Studios' £136m profit last year, would suggest a valuation exceeding £1.6bn."
Just wondering what a potential holding split might be - 50/50 is too simplistic as All3Media and ITVStudios bring something different into the pot.
So just using the numbers in articles yesterday, if Redbird brings in a £1.2bn asset and ITV brings in a £1.6bn asset - total £2.8bn would mean ITVs stake is 57%.
Lets be gentlemen and round it up to a clean 60/40 split :)
Going forward then - all this would do is give ITV Group a new income stream from the larger asset - with the assumption that benefits of scale increase profits vs what each entity created previously.
So bottom line all that would change for ITV.L investors is probably an increase in dividends in line with potential increased profits, much else stays the same.
However ... ITV would still be in play medium/longer term as another company might still want to get their hands on ITVs "60%" of the 'new thing' if it does well.
That's what I think anyway!
Looking forward to the results, and next dividend confirmation, or some other corporate RNS before then.
Reasons to sell at this point? Er - zero! |
Snooze 😴 |
What no bid yet?... |
2nd bidder? 🤔 |
Well there it is, a small technical victory - regardless of news flow taking centre stage suddenly. |
In other media news … |

Huckers - todays channel breakout did have volume in the end - 11m. :) Isn’t it odd the news flow improved at just the right moment… |
I would rather own 100% of ITV studios than 50% of the combined ITV studios-All3Media. |
Excellent update, goldfinger 👍 Much appreciated.

Maybe a revisit to Oct highs around 82p...AI bubble getting a bit tired...money now chasing old economy shares... |
I wonder what our biggest shareholder, Liberty Global, thinks about this? They sold All3Media. They may end up owning a share of it again if a merger takes place! 😂 |
Lovely Bullish engulfing candle on the chart too if any one follows candle's . |
Not sure how it can still be at an 'early' stage after a year/s.... |
We will see tomorrow won't we. |
Thanks Goldfinger and everyone so far for the links and info . Be great if this was it ... as I've said I'm happy with the value and dividends but bloody hell it would be good to see a rocket in the price to a proper value of ITV . I can then retire early Hold tight and good luck all ... might take the wife out for a Fizz tonight in expectation of tomorrows month end . ..... |
An announcement is in the pipe, it will move this to 80p tomorrow morning. I have also been informed by a media analyst that there is a another suitor who has been waiting patiently to show their hand, maybe MM's have got wind and marked up the share price on that today.
Stay long! |
The Mark Kleinman piece in CityAM on his 2025 predictions said with regards to ITV “…and don't be surprised to see RedBird Capital, the owner of AllMedia, figuring prominently in the final mix of bidders.” |
Worth noting that Currys up more than ITV so big rises not always related to bid rumours. |
Open their eyes or "force the issue"
Concur Huckers.
This is ALL about forcing the issue with these "alleged predators"
Put up , or we will simply merge studios etc etc |
Huckers. totally agree that this development will open the yes of other interested parties. Watch that space! |
