netflix arent doing that well?all time high share price and all time subscribers high?tlobs level nonsense |
No its not free.A subscription gives ad free access and is well worth the trifle amount they charge , if you like uk generated content especially the back catalogue. |
The Sunday Times (this morning) has ITV at the top of its small list of take-over targets. It does caution that rumours have been floating around ITV for years... But this time it might be the time... |
Boue,
ItvX is free lol |
ITV has access to cash/friends, and hardly any debts, and can carry on buying shares well past 2025. I predict many companies will be taken private to avoid a carve-up, by the "fast buck institutions" in the event of a very likely recession, perhaps 2025/2026. I will be subscribing to ITVX, to see if paying to view tv, is worth it. |
A brief comment in The Economist today:
“Until January 2nd we are looking ahead to next year’s big stories. Today, what will shape culture and science?
Film and television projects delayed by the Hollywood strikes of 2023 will finally hit screens over the next 12 months. Cinema-goers can look forward to instalments of “Avatar”, “Mission: Impossible” and “Captain America”. Television viewers will get new series of “The White Lotus” and “Stranger Things”. But they should enjoy these glossy productions while they can, as studios are tightening their belts.
Making money from streaming services is proving to be harder than expected. Netflix and Disney are managing it, but most of Hollywood’s older studios are struggling to turn a profit on their digital ventures. An industry-wide economy drive is therefore under way. Disney’s spending on content, excluding sport, was 30% lower in 2024 than in 2022. Even Apple, which jostles for the position of the world’s most valuable company, is said to be curbing its TV-commissioning enthusiasm. Viewers should prepare to pay more for less impressive shows and films.” |
Excellent , balanced post Tlobs. |
Here's my analogy of ITV, from the Simpsons.
Lurleen, the country and western singer is ITV.
Homer is the small share holders of ITV.
The spiv that wants to buy the singers contract is the stock market apparatus.
Marge is the nagging voice of the media to jumble the thoughts of Homer.
"Don't look up my dress, unless you mean it", a line from Lurleen's own song.
Classic!! |
An example for you....... I've used cut and paste ;-)

The ITV mammoth tree shake is working, hundreds of small shareholders are selling to pay the mortgage or the gas bill or car lease payment. All very sad but that's what happens when faith is lost and money is tight.
Not just ITV, so many good companies are under the cosh. As Buffett famously said, 'to be fearful when others are greedy and to be greedy only when others are fearful' so just pay attention to what's in front of you!! 66p is the bargain of the decade.
Shares in ITV are being hoovered up daily, how many of you are watching the trades closely.
Buy, stay long in the knowledge that you have a piece of something that is going to the stars!!!! |
Oh well tlobsMaking nice useful posts was a nice thought, I see youve reverted to being the useless troll again.Lets have some more rec begging ripping yarn posts at the easy target goldfinger. |

Potential 2025 takeover targets - ITV (obviously!)
“UK equities are at a pivotal moment that presents what could be a once in a generation opportunity, according to investment research company Edison Group.” - ok take my money! |
Utter rubbish on ITV both yesterday and today…… |
The bbc (no fan of it either) has absolutely trounced this epic fail of a company on Xmas day ratings. Talk about reverse gear! |
And sadder still that you've got nothing better to do on boxing day sticking up for another one of your many user names.
spud |
..so its even sadder that you spend time on xmas day trolling him whilst normal folk are out having a good time? |
Let's face it guys, Matthew after having claimed to have had a slap up lunch with his "fellow investor mates" spends Xmas eve night crying about being picked on by bb names such as Royston and jonnybig when normal folk are out having a laugh and a drink. It's obvious he's a sandwich short of a picnic 🤪
spud |
royston, MatthewR is a big headed know all who likes to think he is some kind of Cityboy...
Use your filter button. Claims everyone else has aliases and then uses his many accounts to uptick his own dire posts that have no place on this thread. I must check who else has posted today, because MattR will be out accusing me of having created aliases in order to post about him.
This bloke has a huge ego, pity about the tiny brain! |
