First they need to increase renewable power and certainly onshore and offshore wind. In the meantime develop green hydrogen hubs utilising excess electricity currently wasted by switching off turbines yet still paying producers.

Bearing in mind they are suggesting that these generators will account for 2% of electricity generated then retrofit existing facilities.

22/23 UK oil and gas tax revenue of 9 billion is a backhander not to be sniffed at. When ITM are paying a fraction of that in taxes, I will be very happy.

RWE still pushing hydrogen

Exciting times lie ahead for the hydrogen industry, and we're at a pivotal moment where questions around jobs, skills, and safety are more crucial than ever. Yasmin Ali, Project Development Manager at RWE, will take the stage at the Hydrogen UK annual conference this week, aiming to shed light on these pressing issues.

As part of Panel session 2, Yasmin will raise three questions for discussion, that resonate across the industry:

1. The balancing act: When should we start promoting jobs in hydrogen projects? How do we strike the balance between too soon and too late?

2. Bridging gaps: With a spotlight on the apparent disconnect in the recruitment system, are we seeking perfect candidates and overlooking talented people?

3. Unity in diversity: How can competing entities within the hydrogen sector collaborate more effectively?

This discussion goes beyond mere conversation; it's about laying the groundwork for a more robust, inclusive, and efficient hydrogen industry.
Have you been asking these questions too? Be part of the conversation and help us to shape the future of hydrogen in the UK – we’d love to hear from you.
