28/11/2022 22:46 | Shell Plc (LON:SHEL) is drawing back from the planned green hydrogen projects in New South Wales with Australia’s BlueScope Steel Ltd (ASX:BSL) ....following a detailed scoping and assessment of the initiatives. Initiatives - we've heard problems in different areas not offering enough to make things viable, Cooley highlighted this a few times. Is that what that first statement means? "Shell evaluates projects such as these based on commercial and strategic considerations. As part of this process, Shell concluded the proposed projects were not a strategic fit," a spokeswoman for the company told Renewables Now Make what you want of Ms Generic's quote. The spokeswoman noted that Shell will continue to pursue hydrogen opportunities both in Australia and globally. That one tells us something, if true, which we should believe is, through our partnership with them. I am expecting delays to Shell - Refhyne2, inline with any delays to production of the MEP2 stack. One bit of negative news could be that the 5MW stack has been put on hold (although, I would see this as ok/good news - focus on core product). My biggest concerns are only global - not particular, at all - but I am somewhat braced for a nasty suprise, if I'm being totally honest. But I have been spending a bit too much time with vlad lately, so could just be the poison taking hold? Market note @Gimme: "Wait and see". | gimmethefax

28/11/2022 22:03 | Moon, your question stirred me to look harder and confirm for myself, see V.2. "What if the big one is shell dropping itm?. That's the one thats scaring the hell out of me at the moment. They've cancelled various hydrogen projects with other companies and we've gone out of favour seemingly for fuelling stations ? This is one of my genuine reservations..." Plus, If we can post a list of the cancelled project links then we might be able to pull something out of it, like, why? Could it be that Shell have now witnessed first-hand just how difficult it is to get these plants up and running, through working with early-movers, ITM, and therefore finally could see straight through the smoke and mirror deals that were being made..? Not a clue to be honest, but worth a looksee. | gimmethefax
28/11/2022 21:49 | "The UK sites were developed with ITM Power, and the partners agreed to shut down the operation earlier this year. ITM Power’s subsidiary ITM Motive is decommissioning them along with a fourth hydrogen refuelling station it ran in Swindon." Swindon? That one has nothing to do with Shell. Pivot. Think bigger. | gimmethefax
28/11/2022 21:40 | Sometimes it is better to simply take them at their word: "Shell UK has closed down its three hydrogen refuelling stations for cars and vans and said it is now turning its attention to fuelling larger vehicles." - Think Vitol, think Motive, think 4MW standard. ..and.. January, 2022: "The electrolyser will be based on a state of the art 5MW PEM stack integrated into pre-engineered 20MW electrolyser trains." Now: "The electrolyser will be based on a state of the art pre-engineered 10 MW electrolyser." That public change was made very recently - between January 22 and October 22. Pivot. Think leap-frog, MEP2. To me, it does not look like Shell are turning away from ITM Power, but rather turning in sync with them... That said, I share your anxiety. | gimmethefax

28/11/2022 19:54 | May not even be shorters analysis directly. Maybe its just relationships with buy side, and it is them that are severely negative because they know something. Who knows really But end of the day, they are all bearish- all sides, for some reason | vlad the impaler
28/11/2022 19:41 | Hydrogen global is as easy a short as there is out there now This sector is screwed | vlad the impaler
