I guess once the Grangemouth refinery shuts all oil will need to be refined abroad. So no control of imports of diesel or petrol. Talk about energy security 😂😂128514; |
Better to waste eg 50% of stranded wind to liquefy the H2, rather than 100%? |
Instead of pouring tens of £billions down a hole capturing carbon from other countries, and paying hundreds of £millions into constraint payments to turn off 'inconvenient' power generation, why not use some of that money to persuade the oil companies to set up a huge H2 generation facility and ship the H2 to the power stations to burn alongside gas?
Gas generation today 15:50 pm - 55.3%, renewables - 8.5%. |

Sintef confidently expecting Refhyne II to deliver 44 tons/ day |
Examples on EU-funded projects, coordinated by SINTEF
Through the project GAMER, and the subsequent project WINNER, SINTEF together with the project partners achieved the first worldwide demonstration of high-temperature pressurised steam electrolysis using a proton ceramic electrolyser, delivering high efficiency and hydrogen at 10 bar, with excellent cell-level improvements. The innovative results are recognized by the EU Innovation Radar platform. The project H2Glass aims to decarbonize the glass and aluminium industries by replacing natural gas with hydrogen. Together with European industry partners, the project will develop a new technology platform for the combustion of hydrogen, supplied by a mobile electrolysis unit. This project is jointly funded by the project’s industry partners and the European Commission. This summer, Shell made a final investment decision on a 100-megawatt electrolyser plant at their Energy and Chemicals Park in Rheinland, Germany. The project, REFHYNE II, is utilizing low-temperature, proton exchange membrane (PEM)-based electrolysis to supply green hydrogen to the refinery’s production facility. REFHYNE II will become one of the largest clean hydrogen facilities in the world, producing up to 44,000 kilograms of renewable hydrogen per day. |

Don’t be down I know it’s Monday but Friday will be here soon keep your chin up 😁 |
Beats battery buses and takes 5 minutes to fill instead of 45 minutes to charge a bus |
What are you wittering on about? |
600 miles is an impressive range for the Fastway hydrogen buses being refuelled at the Crawley depot. |

Good to read that the UK government will continue with it's clean energy regulations and target dates. The Americans electing Trumps give Starmer and the government a 'get out of jail card' to try and be bold, if it fails they can just blame Trump for targeting the UK for words said against him by the then opposition labour party.
A massive 80% of Brits don't like trump so we can take it they would not want the UK to bow down to any American pressure. |
