Investor discussions surrounding ITM Power Plc in the forum showed a blend of optimism and skepticism this past week. Key sentiment emerged around the company’s expanding addressable market due to increasing interest in hydrogen and related technologies, particularly since the government's review of phase-out plans for petrol and diesel vehicles might favor hydrogen solutions. Comments such as “the magnitude of turnaround here... is going to sink and build on full market day after Christmas” reflect strong bullish sentiment. Several investors expressed their belief that financial forecasts could be positively revised, indicating a potential for recovery and performance in 2025.
However, some participants highlighted a more cautious viewpoint. Comments from users suggest lingering concerns about cash burn and company performance, with pointed criticisms on the company's past financial struggles still evident. Notably, one particularly dismissive comment characterized ITM as “a right pile of loss-making garbage.” Conversely, other investors bolstered their confidence with statements such as, “this is probably the best time ever to buy ITM stock,” indicating a polarized investor sentiment where optimism about future transformations competes with apprehensions regarding historical performance and financial health. Overall, these discussions culminated in a spirited debate over the stock’s potential trajectory, with bullish forecasts clashing against pessimistic perspectives.

ITM Power Plc has recently achieved significant milestones with the signing of two key contracts related to their NEPTUNE V electrolyser systems, designed for green hydrogen production. On December 23, 2024, the company announced it would supply three NEPTUNE V units, totaling 15 MW, to a private family-owned German company. This contract emphasizes ITM Power's commitment to providing efficient and flexible hydrogen production solutions, with the first delivery scheduled for the first half of 2026. The electrolysers will serve to supply green hydrogen to refuelling stations across Germany, marking a crucial step in expanding ITM's footprint in hydrogen infrastructure.
Additionally, ITM Power secured a Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) contract for a 50 MW hydrogen production site in the EU. This initiative involves the deployment of ten NEPTUNE V units and will aid in preparing for a Final Investment Decision (FID) anticipated in 2025. The project aims to generate approximately 5,000 tonnes of green hydrogen yearly starting in late 2027, catering to local industrial demands. CEO Dennis Schulz highlighted these developments as a testament to ITM Power’s growing reputation as a trusted partner for medium-sized industrial projects, reinforcing their leading position in the green hydrogen market.
