20/4/2021 08:04 | If there is a lack of convincing news in the next few months the picture will have changed as we may see their growth begin to be crimped via competition. I'm not expecting that but something to look out for. Lack of utility news is a concern, stagnant European news, etc. | p1nkfish
20/4/2021 08:01 | Some bailed out yesterday. i'm not happy Batty has gone BUT if IQGeo don't drop the ball, and via some comparisons and maths, I still see this multiplying about 3x from where it is today. I can envisage over 3 GBP share price, about 190M market cap overall and 250M market cap would not be a shocker to me. THERE IS A MASSIVE PRIZE AVAILABLE. Moving fast now is critical, need to see wins. | p1nkfish
17/4/2021 15:04 | As CTO I imagine he would have to give more than standard notice so IQGeo would presumably have had a chance to counter the SSP offer. However, once someone has made their mind to move its difficult to get them to stay. Presumably an extended notice period has given them a chance to replace him or plan to replace him. Yes, as a big cheese now at SSP, he could try and recruit IQGeo's talent given that SSP and IQGeo are both based in the Denver area. | red ninja
17/4/2021 14:37 | I agree I don't think anyone would want to lose him. I don't believe it's luck either and yes he can transfer ideas developed at Ubisense/IQgeo to SSP so it's not good for IQGeo. I've looked as his linked in profile. Thus, it looks to me at Ubisense he controlled strategic direction, at IQGeo he appears to have lost strategic direction although in charge of delivering the products, and at SSP he's got back strategic/research direction. Thus, I'm presuming (and could be wrong) he left because SSP offered him more strategic control and research freedom than he had at IQGeo. I also notice that his recommendations on linkedin are extremely complementary so it looks like a real loss for IQGeo. Note, I've edited this post to take out the role bits from his profile as it didn't seem quite right to copy it. | red ninja
17/4/2021 13:02 | Not a case of being indispensable. Fact is a man with a very impressive track record thinks there's a better future elsewhere in the same segment. He was a founder as well as CTO and his track record strongly suggests success hasn't all been by luck. People like that are hard to replace. Finding another person to have CTO title is easy. Quality is #1. Also, this year's report reads OK but preferred format of the last one. I think IQG will have much more of a fight on their hands than was the case a short while back. | p1nkfish
16/4/2021 09:31 | Mmm we don't know why he went, it may not have been possible to keep him. I presume they will put out an RNS when they find a replacement or announce it on their website. In the end no one indispensable. | red ninja
15/4/2021 15:58 | I think letting Batty go will be a strategic mistake. | p1nkfish
14/4/2021 12:11 | Started with mobile dev and I can see this developing into a worthy competitor with Batty doing research and with his background. Lets see what IQG can do in utilities, granted Europe is still behind the curve. | p1nkfish
14/4/2021 11:49 | I wonder why IQG did not bring out an RNS concerning the leaving of their CTO. I mean that is expected for a Chairman, CEO, or CFO, but a CTO is equally (maybe more so) critical to a tech company. | red ninja
14/4/2021 10:50 | It's disappointing and a good man is going to a group that could cause problems. Co-Founder and CTO leaving doesn't read well. | p1nkfish
14/4/2021 10:07 | People of Peter Batty's experience in geospatial don't grow on trees. I wonder who they will replace him with ? Maybe an internal candidate who has worked closely with him. I guess SSP made him an offer he could not refuse. | red ninja
13/4/2021 22:50 | Could be damaging, he knows his stuff and ESRI mentioned. Also knows where bodies are buried. | p1nkfish
13/4/2021 22:33 | Well Peter Batty probably won't present. He's gone. Shame, he was visionary and experienced. | p1nkfish
10/4/2021 08:36 | Some way off but IQGEO as Silver sponsor and Peter Batty presenting. The great and the good attending and IQGEO partners. | p1nkfish
06/4/2021 16:00 | Of course, never leave my ISA that late, but loads do. | red ninja
06/4/2021 14:35 | old isa monery before end of tax year. a lot sloshing about. | p1nkfish
06/4/2021 13:53 | Mmm it could be, but then again it was rising last week and that can't be new ISA money. | red ninja
06/4/2021 11:53 | New ISA money perhaps? | p1nkfish
06/4/2021 11:28 | I wonder if there is some stake building going on as the volume of sells appears to outnumber the buys. The share price has risen today and I have no problem getting a sales quote for a reasonable volume. Usually if I try and test sell a reasonable volume I get a no quote available. It is holiday time so the markets may not be truly representative and the US markets have been strong recently ... is the bull market coming towards the end. | red ninja |
