15/11/2018 16:31 | why would T Rowe Price sell at a low? | davemac3
15/11/2018 16:24 | I have, what do you mean | blueflame
15/11/2018 16:20 | Surely at this share price the shorters wont want to 'borrow' any more share to short. As 59p seems to be holding wouldn't they be better to close their positions and let the share price drift back up and then go back in and borrow/short, etc. Anyway I am holding onto my little stash as I see future value in IQE. | croquetman
15/11/2018 16:12 | Grity, we are already in the 3D Face Id in the Huawei Mate 20 Pro. Cheek - I think Oppenheimer have taken some of the TRP shares. Lets hope TRP dont continue to reduce when they caused much of the fall in the first place before the profit warning. | blueflame
15/11/2018 16:06 | Actually short tracker already updated and no change today! | cheek212
15/11/2018 16:05 | Rowe have sold some of their shares - I wonder if these went to some shorters to close out! Will be interesting to see short tracker again later when updated. | cheek212
15/11/2018 15:59 | I will be annoyed it Sp closes sub 60s today. It should close above where it is | mhassanriaz
15/11/2018 15:38 | If our board can get their foot in the door at Huwai if they already haven’t, could we’ll work out . | grity
15/11/2018 14:04 | kat1e price if you can't make intelligent posts why bother. You just make yourself look like an absolute idiot. Filtered | bocase
15/11/2018 13:10 | JamesRowe: I don't think so. I think "(£m)" just means that the figure quoted is in millions of pounds rather than an indication the figure is actually net cash (the negative of debt) rather than net debt. Further down, there is a statement of FY17 Revenue stated as: Revenue (£m) 154.5 This plainly means there was Revenue of £154.5m not of -£154.5m (or negative Revenue of £154.5m)! Anyway I have asked Edison to clarify or correct the error. | alexisk
15/11/2018 12:38 | AlexisK - My reading of the report is that Net Debt is shown as (£m) so a figure of 40.6 indicates net cash of £40.6m. Very confusing though. | jamesrowe
15/11/2018 12:35 | Following my earlier post, I have e-mailed the person responsible for the note pointing out the apparent error. I would think it is important for anyone researching IQE to realise rhat the company has net cash, not net debt. On Edison's estimate of eps of about 3.5 for 2019, the share price currently seems to be on a forward p/e (for 2019/2020) of about 17, which doesn't seem expensive given the potential looking forward and with possibility of a takeover bid. | alexisk
15/11/2018 12:32 | Thank you poombear. So Edison thinks that the sudden reduction in demand for VCSELs is due to Apple not being able to build enough phones: "we believe consumer demand is less likely to be the cause of the set-back than availability of OLED panels, where Apple is rumoured to have issues. Component availability can be addressed relatively easily, supporting our view that volume production will resume by Q219. We note that IQE is involved in VCSEL ramp-ups for at least eight customers engaged in several market segments, providing alternative sources of photonics growth and reducing the risk of destocking in future." Isn't it rather irritating that, just when Finisar has not yet been able to get its 6" wafer fabrication sorted, IQE is unable to maximise the opportunity to supply VCSELs due to a (hopefully) short-term reduction in demand. | jamesrowe
15/11/2018 12:19 | The Edison note states that there is net debt of 40.6m but this is wrong isn't it? I thought the company had net cash (about 40m as stated in the interim report in August) following the share sales to institutions about a year ago. If the figure is wrong, does anyone know how to contact Edison to have the figure corrected? | alexisk
15/11/2018 12:04 | thanks poombear for the Edison link, just the job 😊 | picobird

15/11/2018 11:30 | Edison note today... "IQE has announced an immediate slowdown in shipments of VCSEL wafers, which materially affects FY18 revenues and profitability, and has issued revised guidance. Although we have cut our EPS estimates by 43% and 24% for FY18 and FY19 respectively, we note this is a short-term problem that does not impact the prospects for photonics growth in the medium term. Our revised estimates give an indicative value of 73p/share..." | someuwin
15/11/2018 10:29 | Having watch this over the past few days I have reached the following conclusions: - Shorters (and or II's bots) are in control of the sp - IIs have a long term strategy especially judging by the recent large buys - IQE's long term future can be rosy else IIs would not be so keen to significantly increase their holding - share price will move on better news and possible serious rumours of a take over - share price could rocket up when shorters decide to close - I don't have the assets (cash and balls of steel) to top up at these low prices So, there is very little I can do apart from reading some very informative and valuable posts here. Lesson learnt: When in profit and see very large short positions, sell and move on. Too late for this. | rostam60
15/11/2018 09:42 | I think Apple are finding that you cannot keep raising the price of this stuff especially now that each phone is not much better than the last in reality so they need something killer to tempt people back to change again. The price of the iPad Pro now is crazy and the feature set over the much much cheaper very good standard iPadis not relevant to most users. Foldable will be the next big driver imo. SP up and down today, suspect it’s building up to another down day controlled by the bots but the bottom must be close at hand. | tomduck
15/11/2018 09:32 | Thank's Zapa | william_quinn
15/11/2018 09:30 | Here's What Could Be in Store for Apple's 2019 iPad Pro Not initially going to have an OLED display due to technical & financial constraints. Will we get a Bakelite case & plastic screen then TOF security, which reminds me got to get off to the Aeropuerto now. | picobird
15/11/2018 09:27 | Record breaker..... | zapa |
