Lots of double trades today, are these all rollovers?
If so actual volume is very small.

Whilst being grateful for all this dedicated and "Noble" research on Helium, the topic could be construed as not carrying as much "weight" as iodine, water or oil, which are "uplifting" and of a different "density". One would not go so far as to say that this is an "inflated" or "overblown" topic, nor indeed a load of "hot air", and it has certainly not "ballooned" out of proportion. There are however "weightier" topics out there which are of greater "gravity".

Superg,
Watched an interesting documentary in helium airships last night, funding from NASA.

If these ever take off (pun intended!) then helium will be in demand:

After a bit of a frenzy on Helium research overnight I do believe Helium under current opinions will feature in production in North central Montana in the coming years.

I expect it to become more obvious over the next 12 months, as certain interested parties continue with their assessment of the area.

I don't see it as big bucks for IOF, but potential a very welcome addition.

However if the insufficient producers fail to recognise the pending crisis looming, then the US as one of the big end users will have to import Helium and the price of Helium will fly.

They have had it easy for years due to a stockpiled helium reserve which will cease to supply the world market through depletion in the next few years.

Spyglass energy did prospect for some in Oklahoma with a 10,000 ft deep well. Good Helium was down there, but poor flow rates, so it has been abandoned.

SQM are doing so clever either.

$6 mill fine H1 for trying to disrupt unions.

Current $9 mill case claim for the lease owners (Corfo) who also want the leases cancelled (not iodine)

Ponce fraud case coming to a close.

Then I saw this date 4th August, so it seems SQM have made their cuts re contractor staff.

Last week BHP Billiton announced a major adjustment of its staff: "As part of the measures to address the structural cost increases and declining ore grades in their operations, Pampa Norte has taken the decision to reduce approximately 6% of its endowment. "

This adds to the cuts that had previously announced SQM and Teck, among others, in a string of national and international listings in recent months, triggered by the final order of the super cycle commodity prices

In the closing auction 25k appeared on offer 60p and the amount bought was on the bid at 60p (UT figure).

So it seems the supplier is holding out for 60 now, not nibbling down which tends to suggest they are near the bottom of the barrel, which fits the rumours.

Just hope for good news now hopefully just as the supplier is finished.

Certainly someone has been pushing it up.

If Zac is right re 80p, for that level imo we'd need a strong buyer or good production news io5 and 6, or the water permit awarded etc.

Yes the technicals may say a drop back from there 9in his eyes), but if the news is strong enough to get it there, that's the point Insti's may start to act again.

Interesting times head if we get there, as the good old churn will start all over again, but this time from a position of strength if production goes past 50mt per month later this year.

croc8 where are you, and your 45p barrier moaning first time around. I have worked out what the barrier was.

Nice one Boggle.

The only deviation of concern is the SQM and others change of production etc.

SQM does appear to be 4500 mt compared to 2011/12 but in that time of need they bailed out the inventory so it looks like they produced 12000mt plus, but it was around 10k plus and inventory on top.

Cos were said to have got 3700 on the theft case. The fact they have dropped the seawater bit into the media suggest the closed wells hurt them and the $70 mill payment is going to sting a lot. Not forgetting the trial in play now re some of the family for what looked like slavery (Paraguay folk).

No need to change it as what you have recorded there gives a very good overall picture of how things should play out over the coming year.

That Sirocco ALP stuff was a handy find, as they finished on $41 per kg on the ALP, but then on heap leach did $27.

A $12 difference no doubt mainly due to power usage. They did bin 150 staff on a clear out so that would have helped.

There are plenty of references re the impact of seawater power usage to imply it will be a decent chunk of the opex per kg.

EG Algorta use seawater and form details it looked like 35 to 38 costs. Talk they have pulled back.

Bullmine use seawater with reported costs higher than Algorta. Talk now they have stopped mining caliche as a result.

Sirocco power usage in the ALP shows a much higher opex than heap leach.

So that bodes well for when Cosayach are on seawater, and SQM forced to do so when legislation comes in.

I say forced, but for the planned necessary move to Pampa Blanca was to include a seawater pipeline. So they knew they had to go that way at some point.

So opex for all when the dust settles going on the examples we have looks set to be in the 35 to 40 plus range for anyone using seawater.

Then in 2 years add on the 7% tax rise, 25% overall minimum wage rise, closing of the FUT system and so on.

RB results Thursday and some interesting info around re those today suggesting they need $50 mill funding. We should see their sales price, amount, and opex in their results.

To others reading, i shall happily post the pertinent facts gleaned from it. First though im interested in the correspondence (if any) and will post it in one go. Its about helium, so from our point of view theres no rush!
