I personally feel that they won't start giving quarterly production updates until the following quarter (have they stated when the first update will be given?).
Best not to raise expectations only to be kicked in the goolies again!

Just to illustrate how far ahead IOF were - I am reliably informed that they had hoped to complete IO4 as early as the first week of February but the Operator was unable to complete the tie in because of the sub 40 degree weather. As someone said earlier on its been a tough month in OK in terms of the weather.

Roboben: Q2 production figures? 29.1 RNS says 'we look forward to updating the market on production levels on a quarterly basis.'

Not certain, but imo we can expect to hear about Q1 production levels, presumably in early April.

March news: would be natural imo to issue an operational update including news on I04/5/6 and also I01-3. Hope that I04 in production will be RNSed separately though within the next week or two.

Finals were May 7th last year.

Agree with your take on water.

Roboden, maybe you have missed a point somewhere, they have already told us they have started selling raw iodine commercially :-)

Well, my take is that we have here a solid business that is progressing steadily (if not, perhaps, as quickly as we would really have liked).

Any delays have not been the fault of the company, but are simply aspects of doing business in the real world. The delays are hardly of great significance this time around.

The iodine production side of things will give us a nicely profitable operation on the extraction side within weeks, to add to the already profitable chemicals division. Plus, of course, the group profits on the chemicals production will have improved now that we no longer have to buy in the raw iodine.

Add to this the profits from that odd contract that had a gap in it last year but kicks in again this year.

Then add the profits from the actual sale of iodine, which may have started, but if it hasn't already, it is likely to start soon. [edit - I stand corrected on this. They've already told us that iodine sales have started! Thanks Naphar!] (Unlikely to have problems selling what they produce, in my opinion.)

That looks solid enough for me.

The shorters have had a field day with Iofina and well done them. I'm hoping that this announcement will make the company a much less attractive target for them. There must be better targets out there, I would think.

I suppose they may well stick around to see whether the water permit application fails, but, reading the last RNS about that, Iofina were effectively saying "We've got this, guys, even if we have to go through extra hearings". (Or, at least, that was my reading of it!) If it is initially turned down then I daresay the share price will take a hit, but I'm not convinced we'll see 50p - or, indeed, anything much south of where we got to this time around - but, I could be wrong, of course!

I've allowed a substantial profit on these to be whittled away by holding when I should have sold, selling at the wrong time and then buying back in too soon. I have spent a while out of the stock altogether, but I started buying back in yesterday and added more today. We'll see how it goes but I'm happy holding now.

I just hope that we go back to being an investor's share rather than a trader's delight! (Yes, I know, there's no such distinction really - but you know what I'm trying to say!)

I'm looking forward to the shorters moving on.
I'm looking forward to the announcements due in March.
I'm looking forward to getting the FY 2013 results out of the way.
I'm looking forward to the Q2 production figures.

Nothing's without risk but I think we've all got a lot to look forward to.

Roll on September! (I'm looking forward to the H1 figures in full!)

Ansana, I found an employee on LinkedIn not so long ago with the following job profile:

"Now that I have been converted into a Staff Geologist for Iofina Natural Gas, Inc. (aka Iofina Resources) I will be performing the same duties as I have been during my internship, as well as analyzing well logs and furthering iodine exploration in produced water across N. America, Australia, and Eastern Europe."

It would be a brave person to "call" what is happening on L2, but it seems to me that there is a continuing strong demand for stock, as evidenced by the AT trades. It seems too that there may be a stock shortage, and with a "Custer's Last Stand" by LSE at around 80p (but once that's breached ...). As we have received very good news this morning, I think we will get further strong buying this (Friday) afternoon, especially as we move towards the close, with a follow-through on Monday. We are - imho - at the start of a re-rating. That's my "take", FWIW.

These things keep turning up in my inbox so here's another one .....

"Iofina (LON:IOF) was also on the rise as it completed construction of its fourth iodine extraction plant, though the recent exceptionally bad weather in Oklahoma has slightly delayed the start of testing.

The group added its operations team had now taken control of IO#4 from the building contractor, with the tie-in to the well operator also complete and approved"

StockMarketWire.com - Iofina says construction of the group's IO#4 iodine extraction plant based on Iofina's WET®IOSorb technology is complete and under the control of Iofina's operation team.

The tie-in to the well operator is also complete and has been approved by the operator. The plant is located in the vicinity of IO#2 and IO#3. The board says the group's experienced start-up and production staff have taken charge of the facility from construction and fabrication teams on site and are in the process of hydro testing the plant prior to the acceptance of brine water, as well as testing of in-line automation systems. The group hoped to begin hydro testing at IO#4 earlier in February but was limited by winter storms and cold weather. Operator tie-in was also scheduled to be complete at that time but was delayed due to cold weather in the area.

Completion of construction of IO#5 is expected in March and the plant will be turned over to operations staff at that time. Production of iodine for both IO#4 and IO#5 is conditional upon final regulatory inspection and approval. Inspection is expected to occur in mid-March with approval thereafter.

Construction of IO#6 continues with completion expected in the second quarter of 2014. - See more at: hxxp://www.stockmarketwire.com/article/4763998/Iofinas-IO4-extraction-plant-completed.html#sthash.9KMscluT.dpuf

SHONNY 27 Feb'14 - 10:09 - 16347 of 16492 7 1

At this rate the sixties will be here today.

SHONNY 28 Feb'14 - 07:53 - 16429 of 16493 3 0

Good morning guys. I think it's going to be a red day and I'm seldom wrong on this one.

SHONNY 28 Feb'14 - 08:11 - 16445 of 16493 3 2

Well that was a short lived rise. Almost red already. 70p close I reckon.

Incisive, cutting analysis I read somewhere. Breath-taking or what.
And look at the thumbs up - 7 v 1, 3 v 0, 3 v 2 - so looks like the Shonny hangers on are baling out too.

Anyway, I've been out all morning, so if you could just run me through it and bring me up to speed please SHONNY?

After the 'slash yer wrists' day yesterday, the mood of the board has been uplifted somewhat. A happy bunny here.....for the time being.
