03/4/2013 12:52 | Worth a read rovi Beacon Hill Resources commissions Minas Moatize wash plant as makes "excellent" progress By Giles Gwinnett April 03 2013, 11:46am Phase 2A of the Minaz Moatize project sees the plant capacity increased to 1.8 million tonnes a year of run-of-mine coal with the saleable product transported to port by rail Mozambique coal miner Beacon Hill Resources (LON:BHR) is powering ahead on all fronts - as it begins commissioning the Minas Moatize wash plant. This step means that coking coal production can begin with first coal earmarked for next month (May). Also on Wednesday, the firm said it had agreed a mining contract between the firm and the Mozambique Government to underpin development of the project and updated investors on the rolling stock situation. Phase 2A of the Minaz Moatize project sees the plant capacity increased to 1.8 million tonnes a year of run-of-mine coal with the saleable product transported to port by rail. The plant, built and designed in South Africa and transported to Tete, was re-designed in November last year to be more capital efficient, said Beacon Hill. Notably, its design took into account the consultants collective experience from Vale and Rio Tinto's wash plants with regard to maximising the coke fraction in the fine coal, it added. The electrical commissioning of the plant will begin early this month followed by the water and medium circuit commissioning. Hot commissioning (actually using the mined material) will start in the middle of this month and the expected plant feed will be around 30-40,000 tons during this month, said Beacon. The 25-year-mining contract signed Wednesday sees the government take a 5% equity stake in the project. The Mozambiquian national interests can acquire a further 10% stake in Minaz Moatize at fair market price. The company also said today that arrangements regarding the rolling stock transaction announced on February 1 this year are progressing and delivery of the trains in the third quarter of this year. Beacon's chief executive Rowan Karstel said the firm continued to make "excellent" progress on all fronts, adding that the commissioning of the Minas Moatize wash plant was a major milestone. "The signing of the mining contract also represents a major strategic shift for Minas Moatize Ltda bringing it closer to Government objectives and ensuring the longevity of the operation, fiscal exemptions and its sustainability going forward. "The rolling stock conditions precedent will be completed this month and, with the addition of new highly experienced personnel, I am highly confident that we will deliver on our strategy and build shareholder value." Beacon also said today that the Phase 2B and 2C of the Minaz Moatize expansion was on track with commissioning of 2B, expected to cost around US$3.5 mln, to start during the fourth quarter of this year. Phase 2B is expected to increase coking coal yields by up to 4%, while C2 is expected to increase plant capacity to 2.8Mtpa and cost around US$6.5m. Shares dipped 0.64% to stand at 3.10p. | rovi57

28/3/2013 22:43 | For a bit of a gamble, RUR arbitration case with Bolivia is next week. If RUR win - as they should, but that doesn't guarantee Bolivia will play ball - then there is a very nice plus for shareholders once the monies flow back into the company (might take a while to receive the cash - not so sure how that bit works). I still like WAS - Byrne has a good reputation - looks to be getting on track this year. Needs to sell its non-core assets though, otherwise dilution calls. Good green company, proven technology, ducks being lined up, but everything falls badly behind schedule. IOF is still the best though :-) | ![]() madchick
28/3/2013 22:33 | I like the look of that product, I'll be buying some of the products, but I do frown at why it takes reading a BB to be aware of it. It seems great but then they, obviously in a deal, and call it a ' Tesco',cleaning product. It looks like the Dyson version of cleaning agents. May be a missed trick there. Quite a bit more to dig through though, to see if it's investable. I watched a brilliant air cleaner, that did all of this, go down the pan. But I can see how this a far more tangible to consumers. | ![]() superg1 |
