16/1/2014 13:05 | Allelujah! | knackers
16/1/2014 12:49 | Don't agree neddo. I work for a British defence company - we have lost a number of American contracts to other American companies despite having a cheaper, more reliable and higher quality part. Americans love America. | knobbly
16/1/2014 12:44 | PMUR offering 5k at £1.05p - that's as good as it gets for stock on L2. Next to nothing about, can someone sort the bid price out, please, and make a market! Thank you! | knackers
16/1/2014 12:44 | I do wonder how much of the iodine market is covered by stringent quality aproval processes, either for raw iodine or derivatives. Certainly I can see anything for food/pharmaceutical applications taking some time to get the requisite approvals. Maybe we are already some way down the track on this for raw iodine and accreditations already in place at IOC? | chumbo
16/1/2014 12:12 | americans would buy from anybody for the right price, but ,yes they are very patriotic, we could learn a lot from them,we have been sold out to Europe. | neddo
16/1/2014 11:53 | sandbag, You would know that American tourists spent £2.4b in 2012 the UK? Patriots. | n3tleylucas
16/1/2014 11:41 | Having worked with Americans world wide for many years I know how patriotic they are. They would always buy from an American company if possible. | sandbag
16/1/2014 11:36 | It isn't as if IOF haven't known for some time they would have iodine to sell in the open market! They have a network of contacts developed over many years and they know who is buying so when they have their inventory they will be in a position to go to those buyers and bit by bit build market share. If I had a supplier of x product I wouldn't ditch them over night and go to a new supplier before their product was proven to me in terms of quality and reliability of supply. I would be tempted however to give them some of my business particularly if quality and reliability were offered with the temptation of a small discount. As my confidence grew with the new supplier I would be keen to move more of my business to them especially if I was a USA company buying from a USA provider. It takes time to build inventory and it takes time to build buyers and market share. IMO both will happen in conjunction. | ansana
16/1/2014 10:34 | I believe one of the other 3 iodine producers in the States uses a third party distributor as it's sales channel. It's really not an issue if it's done that way, but probably better if we can sell direct to end customers requiring raw iodine. Not an insurmountable problem in my eyes, but probably takes a bit of time to get traction. | che7win
16/1/2014 10:23 | Yes I believe so. | ansana
16/1/2014 10:23 | Bob As said so many have said it now, the letters of intent relate to ensuring that the water isn't going over the border to ND. IOF made it clear in the rns that it was to serve local and surrounding counties, including the Elm coulee field which as we know is a very high well drilling activity area.. On 4/5 complete, commissioning etc. I think you are right, it may be sooner than some anticipate. On points by others, the current price represents delays and fear by some re iodine sales and so on, they said 6 by the year end, and 2 weeks into 2014 2 more plants are very advanced, it's clear on the pics on the site which have been there for a while. IOF talked of a slipped order, which many think is just about the need for the order being complete before shipping. So for now it's a case of waiting on the next plants and iodine potential. The water is a big bonus as always. If they get the iodine sales then off we go. The inventory argument that has gone on for some time, is not a great point of negativity. If you want big orders you have to have an inventory in any business, otherwise you won't get orders, customers want a solid supply point, you can't have a bare cupboard when a customer needs a product. With 5 plants in play and number 6 to come, confidence in the supply chain will jump imo. Thinking down the road and material production, can they sell iodine?. well if their forcast opex is anywhere near right, very few in Chile if any could live with anywhere near the prices IOF could sell at if they so wished. Thinking 3 years ahead if all goes well and IOF are into many 1000 mt, then There could come a point where IOF aggressively wipe out some competitors. In 3 years (Chile costs up 5% per year) then a $35 cost becomes over $40, but then power costs have been on 11% rises every year for over a decade. Add in sea water which will push opex up, notably due to power use. Then the gov wanting to add 5% on taxes, and so on. | superg1
16/1/2014 10:04 | Do we know if they've identified sites for IO7 & 8 yet? | chumbo
16/1/2014 09:20 | Negotiated order on a £5k buy via Halifax, looking good this morninig! | andyhayward1990
16/1/2014 09:10 | Yes and to add to that news there will be the resolving of the water application Taken from their web site "As requested by the State of Montana, and following a review by the Company's retained consultants, the meeting will discuss the engineering design on the water depot and the letters of intent for the water usage. The Board will update shareholders in due course". | bobsworth
16/1/2014 08:59 | agree with that bobsworth this is news driven not chart driven. | jointer13
16/1/2014 08:54 | Must be getting news soon that the long awaited towers have been installed and plants 4 & 5 are complete and undergoing commissioning. Weather out there is 13 C and Sunny! Ideal for preparing sites 7 & 8 and cracking on with the building of plant 6 on the IOF#2 site. Looking forward also to an update on the roll out of the mobile units which could surprise a few in its significance. | bobsworth
16/1/2014 08:42 | N3 - trend channels in 'the real world' have a habit of reversing. This one is long overdue IMHO. Keep watching... | knackers
15/1/2014 22:44 | I agree with Super, we don't want shorters to close. N3 and aliases walk the talk | hurricane.
15/1/2014 22:24 | Should be plenty of willing US customers for IOFs Iodine - approx 1,574mT imported from Chile and Japan in the three months Oct 2013 to end Dec 2013. Already in 2014 around 444mT imported = mainly from SQM. | iofra
15/1/2014 22:16 | This is what's happening in the real world; | n3tleylucas
15/1/2014 22:12 | A lot of impressive numbers, sadly they're not the ones that matter. Hope meets reality, shares fall. | n3tleylucas
15/1/2014 21:58 | Fresh Back door stuff as I call it, a hunt for stock from willing sellers a ring around etc and the buyer found 820k shares which would put a dent in the supply. Could be ennis closing, we'll find out tomorrow evening. | superg1
15/1/2014 21:54 | diggulden - thanks for the post, just starting to read more in depth about IOF and have to agree that this looks very oversold at the current price given the potential going forward. | andyhayward1990 |
