Just had a quick listen. Nothing much to add to Madchicks excellent post above.
The FD confirmed they were as of today in a net cash position-CC had previously said by “by end of Q2” so good to hear they are already there.

IO#9 he said would be finished “very shortly” which suggests water testing etc is likely to start in coming weeks so we should be fully operational by July 1st as hoped.

madchick, Good summary, I too thought the presentation was positive and we were well informed of their future intentions with regards new plants and cash flow. I am not interested in dividends, I want to see a good share price, they stated at least one new plant a year which should be achievable without incurring debt. So feeling positive for the short to medium term..

I thought it was a good presentation. They can't say anything market sensitive as it would have to be done by RNS.

I found it interesting that chlorine-related products formed 25% of Iofina chemical sales and that their greatest growth in 2022 lay in non-iodine sales. I agree with them that it's good to be diversified.

They thought the greatest growth moving forward would be in healthcare applications, particularly in Asia, since healthcare is expanding there. Also x-ray contrast media are expected to show the greatest growth (although I seem to recall it's not an area where Iofina are engaged?).

For me, since I haven't looked it up on a map, the discussion of the IO9 site and to see it on the map in relation to the other sites was informative. They explained how future sites are intended to build up this area and then the plants in this area can share resources operationally.

There were indications of new staff coming on board, including on the management team (I guess could also be via a promotion), plus in sales and in the development team. The latter position would help them in negotiations, they believe.

I'd kind of assumed that any bolt-on business to expand/complement iofina chemical would be small-scale, but it appears that they are open to whatever seems the best investment. They discussed the possibility of lithium (it's not extracted by WET technology) but seemed to think that newer techniques of obtaining lithium were better in any case. They've also wondered if there's some kind of efficiency to be obtained with their oil and gas partners regarding lithium, but this was deemed to be several steps away yet.

They seem to be considering anything from small bolt-ons to transformational acquisitions, but nothing remotely in the pipeline yet. Current cash flow they prefer to spend on growing the business rather than on dividends or a share buyback. That's not new, but since it was recently discussed here, I thought I'd put it in.

Also not new, but repeated, was that they sell mostly at spot price.

The audio was clear and for that I was also grateful!

Not a lot has changed apart from the iodine price. If it wasn’t for iodine being at $70kg, the share price would be in the teens. The same ineptitude carrying out the same tasks will not produce a different result!

It sounded like 'jam tomorrow' because there are two sides to the negotiations over IO10.

Tom could be a bit more definite about IO9 coming into production, rather than By the end of Q2.

What questions were asked, like bringing plants on line in more efficient and timely fashion...not blowing in the wind timescale..

Thanks SerratiaAmazing how flat those exports are over the last 4 years. Even slightly down. Not surprising supply is so tight given demand is increasing by about 1000 tonnes per year.

Updates -

Chilean exports to end of April - tons with comparison to previous years. 2019 6149 t, 2020 6919 t, 2021 6375 t, 2022 6046 t, 2023 5928 t.
2020 had a large export in April followed by a low export in May so is a little out of step.
Production tons flat for the last 7 months. Price holding $70 - 71 /kg to March. April prices next week.

No comments on Investor Meet presentation, neither here nor on LSE board. Did not see it myself so am interested to hear any comments.

I think they learnt their lesson with IO9 delays not to give timings on IO10 and are keeping comments very generic, unfortunately.
