12/6/2015 14:21 | I think that we will exceed our target on iodine production, given the warmer weather. I would be hoping for 45mt or more at the minute. I have not got a handle on expenses, so it is difficult to judge util we hear the numbers. If we exceed the target it can only help to offset the expense side. | ![]() rogerbridge
12/6/2015 14:20 | Fresh The Turkmen drop out of the supply on price was a surprise, so if they have out it on hold due to prices that's 500mt. Re SQM as mentioned it has been said there are things lurking that will enhance their troubles. Besides all of the fraud and tax that Pozo Almonte issue is potentially huge for the sector. Cosayach have already been done twice for illegal extraction and environmental damage. What they extracted was less than SQM talk about re further water rights and expansion. It's the same water source hence SQM claims are complete BS. It now looks like exiting extraction is causing damage. Any decision to end the use of wells there takes near 40% of world supply out of the market in one hit. The government can do it, they brought a water law in, late last year where they can suspend water rights for the exact reason raised. Awol I'm wondering if someone looking on here speaks Spanish, and hence we had a spike in buying. | ![]() superg1
12/6/2015 14:17 | Superg, Sorry for the tardy reply. I was curious as. as I said I had never heard of wells needing desalting before. From reading the articles if it is not unique to Bakken it appears not to be a problem shared with many other fields. I have never heard or seen it referrenced in any company presentation made by companies operating in the Bakken. As I said I was curious. | mortie1
12/6/2015 13:59 | SG mentioned that Turkmenistan stopped supplying when prices fell. If we don't get our plants running pdq I assume they can switch on quite quickly and take any slack in the market. Also ifSQM are still producing when price goes up they can quickly make enough money to take us over. We need them to be closed down if we are to get a clear run and time to build plants. It takes us three months to add 20-30mt/ month, so a long time to get to 2000mt/annum. | ![]() freshvoicem
12/6/2015 13:25 | Last time I bought in, it was at 49p, we seemed to be on a roll, and I said I had a feeling this would drift down a bit until the strategic update (yes remember that?) but I was happy enough at that price. I should have listened to my doubts, look how that worked out... This time I have gone in at 21p because I think we hit rock bottom this week. It's going to be a long slog back up to 49p but I'll be in the money long before that happens. GLA. | kattatogaru
12/6/2015 13:22 | I said it before and will say it again they have spent the last year making changes and tweaking the plants, incremental improvements they call it, if it's worked in British cycling it can work for IOF. They have worked continuously to squeeze as much out of the plants as they can. In maximising production they minimise the opex. So has the production come good? yes I think it has. IOF realise the importance of hitting 50mt per month, we were close to that in the last quarter so with better weather I think we are going to be pleasantly surprised next week and next month. | ansana
12/6/2015 13:19 | SG I sent it off but not got it back yet....maybe not today!! I will just go with closed down lol! | ![]() awolagain
12/6/2015 13:19 | Superg/spike, Ive no idea really, this is usually their best quarter so I would expect them to beat Q1.Its still early in June but opex will fall if production has improved, if they can produce consistently then the market will rerate. | ![]() che7win
12/6/2015 13:06 | Che Thanks for clarifying that so is that 10% up on Q2 or H1 (135/263). H1 would mean about 290mt, Q2 would mean about 276mt. The forecast is 220 to 260. I have heard of a price figure where it's thought it will be plain sailing and it's probably way below what folks here would forecast. The fact is opex drops materially on consistent good production rates. Near term I wish they would put another plant in at one the the io2 type available sites, as that would add in some great cover and reduce opex. Hopefully io1 bits are heading that way. | ![]() superg1
12/6/2015 12:36 | superg, Oops, just realised my forecast for Q1 was way too pessimistic (out by 30%), so my forecasting needs upgraded +10%. Does that help? Seriously, I think others are clicking that the fall is a tad overdone...and that we have $7m cash to service expansion and growth... Any change from the dire pessimism, even meeting forecasts will shock us all now. | ![]() che7win
12/6/2015 12:28 | SG, thank you for your answers last night. No, I don't have any experience with courts and law. What you say makes plenty of sense; maybe I am too suspicious and that is what caused me to ponder that scenario in the first place. | ![]() bobbyshilling
12/6/2015 12:22 | Che Can you post again with an apparent error (of some type) noted and up your forecast by by 10%, you seem to be helping clear the supply. | ![]() superg1

12/6/2015 12:08 | Looking at that news I have taken out the current bits 7 days ago As stated in the complaint which had PULSE access, regional representatives reported a series of breaches of company controlled by businessman Julio Ponce Lerou. Through a motion of agreement that included most members of the Regional Council of Tarapaca, in mid-April it was decided to refer to the mining environmental authority. According to the Minister Richard Godoy, Pampa Hermosa "has caused tremendous environmental damage." In its document detailing other defaults on water extraction it would have incurred in the Salar SQM through their wells. Meanwhile, sources linked to indigenous communities near the Salar de Llamara indicate that soon also be added to the request made counselors Tarapaca. It sounds serious and that actual environmental risk on that topic in in SQMs annual report. So now they have a complaint about actual damage. Just a case of waiting for more media comment on the topic, perhaps even an SQM rns or info on the topic. I have raised it with SQM through their PR channels as a concerned investor, no reply so far. What I have heard via someone in Chile is that SQM have things brewing that will cause them harm, it has a very serious tone to it. I don;t know if that's the new fraud tax issues, CORFO lease problem, the recent NV iodine issue, or all of them. | ![]() superg1
12/6/2015 11:59 | That Cosayach video is the 2nd reference to environmental damage this week, it's all to do with the aquifer and the national reserve near by. 6 days ago Regional councilors elected by popular vote, asked the Superintendency of the Environment investigate a possible environmental damage Llamara salar. The water dispute between communities and large mining rises higher pitch through legal remedies that end even before the Supreme Court. Now it was the turn of the Regional (or Core) Council of Tarapaca, which filed a complaint with the Superintendent of Environment for any breaches of the Environmental Qualification Resolution that would be incurred by the Sociedad Quimica y Minera de Chile (SQM) in its plant "Pampa Hermosa". Pampa Hermosa is the Nueve Victoria mine. The recent video on the same topic about Cosayach covers the same area. For those that don't know where iodine is produced in Chile, the area recently mentioned (Pozo Almonte) covers all of the Cosayach production and 6000mt of SQM production. Acf I belive are also in that area. At a guess that's 12000mt (SQM 6k, Cos 4k, and Acf 2k) of iodine that comes from the area. Although Cosayach have a pipeline, the way the guy was pointing at maps, it seems he was referring to evaporation or disposal ponds of some type. I recall SCM bullmine had some acid leak problems some time back so it could be similar to that. As you can imagine Cosayach will have little regard for the environment. The overall issue will be aquifer depletion affecting the community, and damaging the national reserve. | ![]() superg1
12/6/2015 11:54 | I have no doubt the board here has been overly pessimistic. Don't think we should have fallen below 30p, so I remain happy, not because of the share price, but because I know the business is running well, despite set backs out of the companies control. Iodine will bounce this year - I have IOF at 75p when the iodine price gets into uptrend. The recent share price falls don't concern me, the operations of the business do and it is running well. Expect a swift rise next week when the team get into town. :-) | ![]() che7win |
