That is a very very good RNS!! They've obviously fixed the various plants
over time by many tweaks here and there, to form this solid production base, upon which to grow production and sell externally as well. Well done Tom, Lance and Team!

Brilliant update, must be 50mt+ rate without IO cappex on the way down.
Bodes well for the future. Maybe some news later on re siting IO1 on a rich brine stream and a pod or two.
I will enjoy my breakfast.

To meet 280mT for H1 means quarterly production had to increase from 128mT Q1 to 152mT Q2, +18%. On warmer weather but fewer plants.

Excellent news and upbeat RNS for a change.

Mad

There had been some mutterings but nothing concrete. If those mutterings were right then there needed to be an rns pre AGM and there it is.

Going on that, then all things being equal, they are very close to exceeding it already.

From a slow start they must be doing 55MT+ a month now to reach these targets.
That's over 600MT over a 12 month basis...with IO1 to come hopefully by year end in
a sweet spot.

Thanks Hurricane I missed the last line

"we are now positioned to pursue additional external sales and off-take agreements of our produced iodine."

That fits in with what they said some time back. They mentioned 50mt as a trigger to start off-take agreements. It was all about excess iodine and proof of the ability to deliver from the customers perspective.

On the other points they said, they mentioned building plants to match off-take agreements rather than chase sales after building a plant.

So for those that wanted a strategic plan that's probably it.

Oh, and I liked that they had enough spare for both sales to the open market and for offtake agreements.

At this stage, though, I guess the agreements will be pretty small.

It underpins their financial target for this year.

Could someone at the AGM ask for more details about that (I'm a bit scared to hear another target that could be broken, but all the same, I'd like to know)? I assumed profitability when I first read the RNS but now I think about it, if we don't know what that target is, it doesn't actually mean anything.

Yes, great RNS by the way. Only two weeks to go, so I hope this means they are already pretty much at 280 MT...

You know I had a funny feeling that they might release production figures early... and here they are!Great news, and done without IO1 for much of the quarter. Looks likely to exceed 300mt easily if IO1 is relocated somewhere better. Is the worm finally starting to turn?GLA

Interesting they mentioned take off agreements.
With the turmoil for Chilean producers, end users will be very keen

Che

Good 10% adjustment on your forecast. :-)

Now ask at the AGM what sort of opex that equates to. I have a fair idea.

That tends to suggest there are some meetings today. We did forecast news to clear a path to chat.

Btw

To clear 280mt they would need to be over 50mt per month for April, May, and June. That was without io1, now if they move it to a high ppm site expect opex to fall, as will be the case with any added production

Excellent news....finally!

"expects to exceed the upper end of its production target of 220-260 metric tons of crystalline iodine in H1 of 2015 from its IOsorb(R) plants."

"we are now positioned to pursue additional external sales and off-take agreements of our produced iodine."

I expect the AGM on Friday will go alot smoother now

:@)

No problem all I'm doing is passing on the bits I come across. Some call it pumping. All I'm doing is making people aware of the significance of potential future events. In the case of SQM and the water rights, what I should do is tell no one, watch to see if they are suspended, and leave the market wondering what all the buying is about.

Bits I don't mention but track.

Algorta Norte still appearing in the Supreme court list with wording that seems to indicate it's the seawater pipeline case. There is a slight change as something about the health authority has been added into the title so I don't know if that means contamination issues. I'm basing that on the Cosayach incidents over the years where the health authority got involved.

SQM

There is a list of ex employees and all those involved which shows they are up for their court appearances over the next month and beyond. A bit of a diary of court cases is appearing.

EG

Following the request of the National Prosecuting Authority, the Eighth Court of Guarantee of Santiago set for Tuesday, June 30 formal indictment of former manager SQM, Patricio Contesse, and the self-styled political operator, Giorgio Martelli.

I've also been tracking EIA permits and the likelihood of expansion by some.

EG that Sergio guy had been planning a big iodine mine and the EIA permits were appearing. After sharing info and asking questions I learned it's been abandoned. He did pursue the idea when the prices were high.

SQM do recycling to produce iodine. I recall IOF calling that expensive. SQM don't give figures but they carry it out at Nueve Victoria where they supposedly have plenty of room for expansion at low cost (if you read their BS).

So why recycle, importing iodine waste solutions from Asia to process in the Atacama. I don't see that as cheaper than production.

Bakken

Everyone seems to moving to slick water and some majors getting some seriously good results from the 3 forks level which we all know is in it's infancy. Just 2 years ago it was thought to be water bearing, not oil.

EG

recent news

For a second consecutive week, a majority of the top 10 initial production volumes reported for Bakken petroleum system wells in North Dakota are from wells producing in the Three Forks formation ― seven of the top 10 IPs reported for the week coming from first bench Three Forks wells.

sg, once again thanks for all your endeavours. It is gratifying to know that there are at least some people who are prepared to graft and put in a tremendous amount of work to put forward the case for or against having an investment. Let's hope that it all comes to fruition.
