I see MED have taken to issuing weird RNSs now - no RNS about the new European stocking agreement, but weird stuff about how the instutions get to go on a jolly to Germany:

...today announces that it is hosting a site visit for certain institutional investors at its new volume manufacturing facility in Dresden, Germany. No new material information will be disclosed during the visit.

WTF is that all about then?

I'm tempted to turn up myself and blag my way in for the free beer and sausages - anybody know what the date of this jolly is?

MED makes its first Dresden shipment
MICROEMISSIVE Displays (MED), the Edinburgh-based technology firm, has made the first shipment from its recently opened £6 million manufacturing plant in Dresden, in Germany.

The AIM-listed group, which was founded as a joint spinout from Napier and Edinburgh universities in 1999, said the new facility had "significantly enhanced" its ability to mass produce its eyescreen microdisplays, which are aimed initially at installation in headsets for the leisure market and other electronic viewfinders.

Chief executive Bill Miller said: "This is a tremendous achievement for the engineering and manufacturing teams in Dresden and Edinburgh.

"Just over a year ago, we put into action an aggressive plan to achieve volume manufacturing as quickly as possible. Throughout the whole project, key targets have been met, culminating in this latest milestone."

MED said it was expecting to ramp up production volumes in the second half of 2007 and the first half of 2008 "in order to meet the growing demand".

Mr Miller added: "We will also focus on augmenting the sales and marketing drive."

P-OLED microdisplay specialist MicroEmissive Displays (MED) is ramping-up its European sales and marketing efforts, with the appointment of Silicon Design, the new rep/stockist arm of the pan-European Spectrum Electronics Group. Operating from offices throughout Europe, Silicon Design will market MED's industry-leading P-OLED microdisplay technology and eyescreen(TM) products locally, for applications including portable head mounted displays and electronic viewfinders...

...Bill Miller, MED's chief executive, said: "The time is right for us to complement our expansion in manufacturing capacity with a sales and marketing thrust. We are poised to become a leading player, having secured the resources we need to achieve volume production at our facility in Dresden, and we have already won contracts worth in excess of $10m. With the appointment of Silicon Design we are set to expand sales in our target markets with a proven partner, chosen for its knowledge, support and customer relationships."

That sounds like bloody good news to me.

any idea who is the supplier putting on the brake, and why they will be taking so long to get their act together?

Not me unfortunately. but not to worry - good to see a development company move into production according to timetable - very rare on AIM, or anywhere else for that matter.

Pity about the supplier issue - hope it gets resolved as they hope...

For the benefit of Wild Bill et al with technical issues, the EE Times Asia article includes:-

"On the OLED front, MicroEmissive Displays Group plc has packed a 0.24-inch color polymer-OLED QVGA display in sunglasses and hooked it up to an iPod via earphones. "One can watch Shrek 3 lounging around anywhere, while people around you might think you are listening to Fleetwood Mac," said Ian Underwood, co-founder of MicroEmissive and co-inventor of its polymer-OLED microdisplay technology.

Because the technology is emissive and does not require a backlight, the company's ME3204 can be used in portable applications such as video glasses or head-mounted displays, electronic viewfinders and night-vision systems. The microdisplay is combined with magnifying optics to produce a large virtual image that appears to the eye to be equivalent in dimensions to the picture on a TV screen or computer display. The ME3204 features a digital video interface together with an integrated display driver, eliminating the need for additional driver ICs."

no news yet.....shouldn't be long now though.

From the AGM statement:

the new manufacturing operation in Dresden is progressing well and, as previously stated, is due to make initial volume shipments early in the second half of 2007

So perhaps another month or so to wait...

Don't forget the RNS in May as well:

The Company is experiencing continuing demand for its next generation product, partly as a result of the Company's recently implemented sales and marketing strategy. In addition to the stocking and distribution agreement with Cytech Technology Limited for Hong Kong and China announced by the Company in January, distribution agreements are now in place across the whole of Europe, Singapore, Malaysia, India, Taiwan and Korea. The Company will continue to seek similar agreements in other territories.

Commenting on the progress, Bill Miller, Chief Executive of MED, said: 'These
first samples from our new state-of-the-art facility in Dresden, are exactly
in-line with our volume manufacturing commitments and we remain on track to
commence volume shipments to our customers in July this year

Now could be a great time to get into this stock as it's likely to move significantly once the volume shipments offially start.
