30/8/2018 07:53 | Good stuff spud | mirabeau
30/8/2018 07:49 | Interesting to note that storage was supplying circa 16% of yesterday's flow into the grid, due to planned and unplanned outages from UK & Norway supplues That shows the flexibility of MRS, as seasonal storage does not allow that | spudtheplumber
30/8/2018 07:27 | Divmad Rough was classed as seasonal storage, injection in the summer , withdrawl in the winter. It was closed to injections last year and is currently supplying circa 3mcm into the grid daily. This will be depleted in the not too distant future. It is a disused gas well and the has severe well integrity issues that would require massive investment to sort. Also being an offshore facility, the running costs are very high. Islandmagee will be a medium range storage facility (MRS) and offers flexibility (and more profit) with its speed of injection and withdrawal. This allows several "cycles" over the year. Daily withdrawal will be circa 23mcm. It's PCI status and UK government guarantee scheme backing along with the fact our CEO has invested heavily suggests this project is firstly needed and secondly a "goer" All IMO & DYOR ;)) | spudtheplumber
30/8/2018 06:58 | Have faith Divmad. Let's see the plans for Islandmagee. The EU's afforded Larne PCI status. The EU believes the project is essential for the purposes of connectivity and security of supply and that will prove important for investors Rough was uneconomic and ageing. It required considerable capex to upgrade it. I believe Islandmagee will be designed to accommodate fast, flexible and active storage with quick response times to wherever the gas is needed. I believe they'll make it economically viable in terms of its construct, size and its usage Let's await the plans for construction and commercialisation from the company and then we can see the lay of the land Geopolitics will play a massive part in gas pricing as we move forward and that creates uncertainty and risk. In the long term storage will become vital | mirabeau
30/8/2018 04:35 | And also, why did Rough close down if UK storage is the lowest in W Europe? It suggests that there is no near term viable case for a replacement storage facility? | divmad
30/8/2018 04:33 | I was referring to the McKinsey report. | divmad
30/8/2018 04:32 | I don't understand a key part of that article. Whilst fast storage facilities might be expected to benefit from increasing volatility of spreads, long term storage will suffer and not offer profitable investment opportunities. Can someone please explain which part IMSL will serve? | divmad
30/8/2018 00:17 | That question mark was actually a rocket ship (emoji) :) | thetrophyman
30/8/2018 00:16 | Oooh... I am excited about this ? | thetrophyman
29/8/2018 23:20 | A few more articles of interest. #1- Northern Ireland Gas Capacity report. 2017/18 to 2026/27. Note however future models accounted for Gaeletric coming online 20/21 CAES salt cavern storage. Larne area also. I think this has been cancelled. #2- EU Commision for Enegy regulation - Old paper from 2012 concerning ( SNP ) Ireland South North Pipeline. Mentions Salt cavern storage Storage on Island Magee but Happy reading | boxerdogz
29/8/2018 21:38 | I'd like to see him come onboard Bibs with a large chunk of his chump change ( he knows it makes sense ) but then again he may just be talking through his pocket ( in a little way ) lol | boxerdogz
29/8/2018 21:34 | Absolutely PMSL here : )Or at least until that mahoosive many multi million trade (s) + 1 shows.By the sound of it though 11+ (no pun intended) is pondering on the way of buying in.Why so slow on the uptake here, hardly rocket science : o | bibs
29/8/2018 21:10 | An interesting take by former energy minister on the future of gas and storage . Note the comments on LNG. This most important with Shannon terminal to be built in the future. The solution, I think, lies in more import routes and more storage. We have been well served by our LNG import capabilities, but an LNG facility is no guarantee of itself that gas will come into it. In a world where there is high demand for gas, the gas being transported by LNG tankers will go where the price is highest. | boxerdogz
29/8/2018 20:17 | Hazl...did well today I see ? | boxerdogz

29/8/2018 19:46 | "Without Rough, further structural volatility could be expected, particularly in the winter months. Flexible and fast cycle storage assets could emerge as the winners of the Rough story." | spudtheplumber |
