Prior Year tax losses can still be written off against Corporation Tax. The WT is a separate calculation dealt with as hpcg has indicated. Therefore their should be no Corporation Tax to pay and WT will be payable depending on how much capex can be set off against it.

No, the windfall is on profits before tax but net of investment allowances.

windfall tax does iog have to this or it is levied on net profit after tax in which case iog has back losses to write off how much are the back losses brought forward

Liz Truss just said on Sky she will work to increase the amount of gas we get out of the North Sea and discussed problems with the windfall tax being a surprise tax putting off investment. Instead she would encourage investment which could be positive for IOG going forwards.

Yesterday it was 288p/therm but it's highly volatile due to the lack of storage as we have discussed recently.

ditip40..probably the same as you already know, the last update was "Based on the current drilling schedule, the two appraisal wells are expected to be completed by Q1 2023". I think we won't get much else until the appraisal results.

Been in this business for more than 30 years. The comment was meant as just an off the cuff friendly remark. We all know stocks go up and down, that's how we make money!!

No need for 'holier than thou' comments though, this is a friendly thread mostly.

Anyway bought a few more today on the drop.

I think we are largely insulated against the WF tax - for the moment!?!
Hence maybe the reason for that?

Really marvelman? On this board, since I've been around, which is not long, the posts about the share price outweigh those about the business and business environment. I mean the windfall tax got about 5 or 10 posts.

The second paragraph would have sufficed. We are not amateurs and we did not need to be told how the market works

A lot of selling going on and no buying!
Is something afoot that we don't know about I wonder?

If it goes down much more I will definitely need to free up some cash before I put a few more Fosters in the fridge. :)

The same 12k trading pattern bringing us down once again. The trouble is they never know when to stop. I have little doubt who it is but a TS1 would be nice to confirm
