Give the share price a chance spud! Assessing the share price from a divy rebase after 1 hour of trading is hardly fair. Let the new CEO come and see how he reallocates the extra capital before assessing the share price

Not much you didn’t already know here except debt higher than forecast and they have been more upfront about Covid impact going forward, whereas other tobacco companies have alluded to it but no more.

Also the fact that our new chief exec may not have yet arrived but he is certainly in touch with the board and letting them know he has no problem with them getting the nasty dividend announcement out of the way before he arrives

Will be interesting to see what he does with the non-existent ngp strategy. Might decide not to bother and just run the core which continues to churn out billions of sticks

"Overall, Covid-19 has so far had only a small impact on trading but we expect this to be more pronounced in the second half due to continued pressures on our duty free and travel retail business"

They needed to recruit a hard cutting ex-accountant CEO in my opinion.

Imperial committed what I consider to be one of the biggest cardinal sins of any company, as it even states in it's report - using debt to buy back its shares - is a massive no, no for any company to do.

Yep, but the company is saving a shed load of cash and gives management the scope to grow dividends for new holders.

Shame for holders already, but it's got to be good for the long term existence of the company I would have thought.

That’s what I and others have been saying for ages. Lower dividend to a 7-8% yield and the price simply drops and re-yields the original rate!

It’s all about risk/reward and after all, this is a dividend stock!

I am topping up below 1500p.Long term it has to offer a little bit of security vs a lot of stocks these days. When airports open up again and duty free starts flowing again back to normal.

Must of been lying when they said a little while ago that Covid hadn't had a material impact on the business.
