Immy, you can also "bed and spouse" on the same basis to take advantage of a married partner's unused allowances.

If your share dealing and ISA account with same broker then they can do it for you e.g. HL and IG. IG shall charge you £72 for 20k worth imm shares. That is what I calculated.

Yes 20k in cash value, but not all brokers let you do it and it's a buy and sell.

Thanks chadders. So essentially if you have 50k of imm now and you've used up 2017 allowance you can tomorrow instruct your broker to transfer 20k out of your 50k shares into the 2018 ?

Just think of the potential here. There isn't an investment as compelling anywhere! And before hamx3 and squire shout me down, yes I understand it isn't without risk. If you can't take a risk put your money in the bank where you may get 1% return.

Immy, today is the last day for the 2017 isa allowance which is £20k. If you have a stocks and shares isa you can add money/shares up to that value today.
Tomorrow the 2018/19 allowance of £20k is available so you can add a further £20k to your isa.

If your shares are in a trading account and you have an isa, you can instruct your broker to bed and ISA shares of your choice from your trading account into your isa. This special arrangement avoids any market spread and is usually done on almost the same bid / offer price.

They only sell and buy back if they have used this years allowance for other shares, and hold imm outside of this years allowance. So a sell and buy back using next years alllowance.

immy you can only deposit cash into a S&S ISA. My understanding is when they bed and ISA they sell your shares in your trading account, transfer the cash into your ISA and repurchase them again in the ISA.

Don't forget any divis received in an ISA are tax free too!

So it's more a matter of tomorrow people can top up upto 20k of shares and trade it tax free, rather then having to sell existing shares of in their account and buying it back ?

Each year you get an isa allowance (20k from memory). When you open the years iSA you can put 20k into the iSA container. This allows you to then trade that 20k, any profits are tax free. Some here are moving shares into the remainder of there isa allowance for this year.Others will open. Exit years isa allowance and start trading.But more to it when taking money out etc. But that's it for stocks and shares isas. Next years allowance starts tomorrow.
