03/11/2003 21:58 | Yes agreed comdirect slightly more expensive than imi per trade but makes up in usually slightly better prices on sells and buys. I use both imi and comdirect but not for long . IMI has gone downhill since being taken over by Halifax and I am in the process of kicking them to the kerb as one previous poster has said I will not be touching them with a barge pole, quite simply they will cost you money.... | sheneeqa
03/11/2003 20:08 | Seeing mention of DLJ on this thread brings a tear to my eye, the best EO broker I have ever used. Sniff! ( Bought by TD Waterhouse...but I closed my account because TD were pants! ) comdirect is probably the best EO broker around nowadays. | mad4it
03/11/2003 19:36 | Yep agredd about the SMS alerts. I set one up in the morning for Fibernet limits 95-110 price then was 100-102 and no sooner had i set them and logged off and was getting ready to leave... beep beep. I recieve two sms's from imi web telling me that fibernet has reached the limits x and x. Bloody heck. Does work sometimes though and useful when it works properly. | royal trader
03/11/2003 19:12 | Generally speaking ok though I have been surprised to find myself paying a toppy price compared to others in TRADES,though that is since they were taken over by Halifax. They also appear to have lost a bundle of my shares.I telephoned two weeks ago and emailed last week without a reply. I think I will now try COMDIRECT too! | simonsimple

18/8/2003 13:42 | After some consolidation for the past few weeks they've now broken through to their highest share price for 5 years. Looks like the work that aceofdiamonds refers to is paying dividends (literally! still yield over 4.5%) | mog
17/7/2003 09:10 | This group has undergone a major restructuring over the last two and a half years following the appointment of a new chief exec. MJLamb. They have brought a new focus to their streamlined activities, strengnthened and reinforced by a series of divestments and acquisitions. There is a real move to added value business areas coupled with investment in low cost manufacturing principally driven by relocation (Eastern Europe, China, Mexico). Their trading performance (and share price) is significantly ahead of sector performance. This is one engineering business that might have it right. A visit to their web site makes interesting reading. | aceofdiamonds
08/7/2003 17:14 | Very close to making new high for nearly 5 years. They're into fluid controls and retail dispense equipment. Recent trading update from 30th June is below, not greatly exciting but someone likes them at the moment. LONDON (AFX) - IMI PLC said first-half profit before rationalisation and restructuring, goodwill amortisation and exceptional items will be ahead of 66.0 mln stg reported last year, with like-for-like sales remaining steady at similar levels to last year. In a trading update ahead of the release of its first-half to June 30 results on Sept 8, the company said it saw improved volumes in Fluid Controls but this was offset by the expected reduction in Retail Dispense. At Fluid Controls, it saw a healthy growth in the order book in Severe Service with record levels of forward business being booked for 2004 and beyond. In Fluid Power, new products and sector initiatives have resulted in modest volume growth despite a flat market. At Retail Dispense, sales were lower than 2002 in Beverage Dispense and trading is somewhat subdued with demand in the US food service sector remaining particularly soft. For the full year rationalisation costs are still expected to be less than 10 mln stg, compared with 32.2 mln a year ago. Around 3 mln will be incurred in the first half. newsdesk@afxnews.com shw | mog
