05/7/2017 07:37 | I'm afraid business is business, I don't see govmnt getting involved. | richardc77
04/7/2017 23:21 | Torygraph article - Imagination Technologies accuses Apple of unethical behaviour in chip dispute. Maybe Kate Rock, IMG Non-Executive Director, member of House of Lords, previously Vice-Chairman of the Conservative Party, can have a chat with her chums like Greg Clark, Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, with a view towards the UK government applying some unethical action against Apple to give them a taste of their own medicine. Or is the Tory Industrial Strategy to allow any US corporate to muck us about and then say thank you? | borromini1
04/7/2017 23:19 | Audio and presentation:- | smondo
04/7/2017 16:38 | Was that the "end of day slide" that we were promised? I had to look closely at the chart to spot it! | jamesrowe
04/7/2017 16:09 | Maybe M9 is on his way on M1 to the Orkneys | dins1249
04/7/2017 16:08 | Q3 2017 Calendar year - Expect a rush of new licence sales for IMG as a change of control will have no material effect on existing customers but may be an issue for future prospective customers. Answer: Get in quick to secure access to the best IP. | borromini1
04/7/2017 15:48 | Mallorca has gone quiet!? | orkney
04/7/2017 15:04 | Sand Grove now increasing a long position. Overall a strong share price performance today, however I take all of M9's points onboard, we could be at 20p tomorrow 😂 | richardc77
04/7/2017 14:59 | Indeed this has £2 written all over it and the US traders are not even on the scene today. | dins1249
04/7/2017 14:47 | Orkney, you make it sound like an episode of Wheeler Dealers! Funnily enough, I'm watching it as I type. It is ironic that IMG produce their best results in years while their future looks so uncertain. It shows what could have been if SHY had not gone into empire building mode and the massive cash reserves that would have left for them to get through this Apple setback. FWIW, I think the likes of AMD, Mediatek and the Chinese will all be interested so an auction should see it go for circa £2. It is also ironic that they announced the results on Indepedence Day, when their independence has never looked less certain. Must be the directors' idea of a sense of humour. PS. I have had no position in IMG since last Septmeber but still keep an eye on them after nearly 20 years as an investor. I will post again when the deal is confirmed, for my last ever post on IMG. | life of crime
04/7/2017 14:24 | Well, so much for kicking the tyres & finding the rust underneath. More like a re spray, major quality refurbishment of the interior, and a fine tuning of the engine. Lols | orkney
04/7/2017 14:24 | Now Aberforth Partners have suddenly turned up on the share register with over 2% and they do not have discretion on the voting rights on these shares. Who are they acting for? Seems a fight brewing up for IMG. M9 time to bale out before your losses bankrupt you. | dins1249
04/7/2017 13:12 | The Man group were obviously expecting a drop in the share price today, which doesn't appear to be happening, after they increased their short position yesterday. Perhaps M9 works for them ;) | richardc77
04/7/2017 11:15 | Sales of shares picking up and the share price continues to slide back. Usual sharp decline at close. | mallorca 9
04/7/2017 11:00 | "You guy's are deluded. There may well not even be a sale, then it's doubtful whether the business can even continue." There is more likely to be a sale then not. "Additionally, we have received interest from a number of parties for the whole Group - reflecting the real quality and strategic value of our businesses and the associated IP. " There is also a major deal lined up which should close the shortfall in royalties from Apple. | pottsey
04/7/2017 10:53 | I'm surprised that you guy's aren't loading up at this ultra low price, after all a £1billion plus bid is about to arrive ! Such disappointment ahead, could end this week below £1. | mallorca 9
04/7/2017 10:44 | dins1249, catch up at the back, Intel sold their entire holding some time ago. | twatcher
04/7/2017 10:41 | And are we forgetting Intel who are already a major shareholder | dins1249
04/7/2017 10:33 | Good thoughts TW. TI was always very positive about IMG graphics in the past and is into the automotive market which is a good fit with MIPS. That is without even cosidering your comments on Ensigma. So overall TI could be a very good candidate for taking over the whole company. I still think AMD is an outside possibility for a take over as weel due to having sold its mobile graphics to Qualcomm just as the market was taking off, having a strong interest in ray tracing and VR and also dabbling in low power non-Intel chips. I suspect that AMD is too busy with its Ryzen and Vega launches at present to be able to spend time on IMG though. | jamesrowe
04/7/2017 10:28 | "PUBLIC OPENING POSITION DISCLOSURE BY A PARTY TO AN OFFER" Just popped up on the news, is this a standard "we are up for sale" announcement ? | twatcher
04/7/2017 10:27 | Sales piling in - oh dear ! Could this end the day at £1.40 ? | mallorca 9
04/7/2017 10:26 | Yeah but that can stick around for ages at seemingly overvalued technology companies.... | dan_the_epic
04/7/2017 10:20 | A lot of 'bid premium' in the share price though. | mallorca 9
04/7/2017 10:17 | Apple revenue is up £5M, on approx 25M less units shipped by them (34M units dropping in total "primarily because of a drop in the largest customer"). But allowing for $-£, lets say revenue is flat from Apple. Given it's on less shipments, either the average royalty from Apple increased a bit, or there was a small increase in licensing from Apple. Probably an increase in av royalty, with some old iphones dropping off, but it's hard to tell. It could be an increase in license revenue simply due to a certain phase being hit in the Apple licensing deal. However licensing does seem to confirm that 8xe is going well. TI is continuing to License PowerVr. I'd suggest the "american multi-national semi" who has signed significant Ensigma deals, could also be TI. Does this put them in the frame as someone who is talking about buying the business (either ensigma or the group). Note that ensigma licensing went from 2M to 6M. Business does seem to be in a far better position, these results would have saw the share price soar if Apple was status quo. Clearly everyone knows the apple position and the share price is still where it is today. | twatcher |
