Some are private, some are public but either way some very large companies have ran afoul from the lack of having their own GPU patents. Going by what happens to those big names that lost, owning IMG would be high value to anyone wanting to build their own in-house GPU and avoiding the same fate.

MAN group will be an interesting one to watch, 780K long, 3.5M short shares, with around 450K short taken recently on a 1.55-ish average.

At least some prospective buyers would value img based on how much it would cost to incorporate the IP in their products long term and the competitive advantage of restricting access to it, rather than on the ability to generate profits by operating the company in it's current form.These buyers would of course also get the bonus of selling off everything that is not of interest to them.

Yes I spotted that TW. A chance to make a quick return. Also shows that they are not confident of a massive drop from current price.
