26/10/2022 22:01 | Spot on. If anyone heard Sunak in PMQs he didn't actually confirm he was outright banning fracking. He said he was agreeing to what was in the 2019 manifesto.Let's see what it's like next year when reserves are next to zero and everyone is freezing their nuts off and the government or consumers are having to pay much higher prices for gas. | city1911

26/10/2022 21:23 | Worth noting he didn't ban fracking he went back to the original waiting on science to prove it safe stance.. United Kingdom Prime Minister Rishi Sunak reintroduced the fracking ban in England, his spokesperson confirmed on Wednesday, making a U-turn on the former government's decision. Official confirmation comes after Sunak stated he will "stand by the manifesto" on fracking during his first Prime Minister's Questions Time on Wednesday. This decision is in line with Conservative Party Manifesto 2019 which placed a moratorium on fracking until science categorically proves the method's safety. Former Prime Minister Liz Truss lifted the ban in September, citing fracking could help boost the domestic oil supply. The decision was controversial as the technique requires huge amounts of water and involves injecting fluid at high pressure into shale rock causing earth tremors, both deemed environmentally unfriendly. Baha Breaking News (BBN) / M Which is the position IGAS was working within anyway.Needs an update on this "new science" pdq though. “Following the moratorium on fracking, we continue to work with the OGA [Oil & Gas Authority], BEIS [Department of Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy] and No 10 Policy Unit to demonstrate that we can develop shale in this area in a safe manner. “Our discussions have focused on the new science that would be brought forward on a sector wide and site specific basis that would allow the moratorium to be lifted.” | bad gateway
