France exits fossil fuel treaty 'at odds' with climate targets

France is pulling out of a 1994 treaty that President Emmanuel Macron said was protecting investment in fossil fuels at a time when Europe was transitioning towards a greener future.

"France has decided to withdraw from the Energy Charter Treaty (ECT)," Emmanuel Macron told a news conference in Brussels Friday following a European Union summit.

The move comes two days after the Netherlands also quit the charter.

Anecdotally I heard from a Nurse that visits elderly people. Sadly she is reporting already that many elderly have passed away when she visits as they refuse to put the heating on. It is not uncommon for her to go into the house and it is stone cold.

I'll be amazed if the old English bureaucracy would allow Sunak into power and why would he want to lead a brigade of Conservative recalcitrants with the UK economy in such dire straits when the 'Establishment' have such a passion for blaming ethnics for all their troubles!

...By the way, even if Sunak is pro-fracking, it will fail to pass through parliament because so many are simply against it!
