Traditionally IG Group has paid approx 70% of its normalised EPS in dividends, which is a reasonable payout ratio for a company with relatively low capital investment requirements. Consensus EPS estimates for 2022 & 2023 are 71p and 81p respectively, so I expect any dividend reset to be upwards, towards 50-55p per share during this period and a yield north of 6% based on current share price.

Is it their Q1 tomorrow?

Absolutely - when a company looks at capital allocation they obviously will go to reserves and current year cash-flow first instead of debt (although an optimal capital structure will be a mixture of debt and equity).

The term "inorganic growth" in the statement is obviously a reference to potential acquisitions which the market might not like in the short term, unless they can clearly explain to the market the synergies and the resultant EPS upgrade.

Is anyone else concerned about this paragraph on IG’s future dividend policy? Does it read as a reduction to the current dividend:

The board have proposed a final dividend of 30.24 pence per share, which would maintain the Group’s full-year cash dividend for FY21 at 43.2 pence per share as guided previously. We have commenced a review and update to our capital planning framework, which we will discuss in the coming year. Consideration of shareholder distributions, alongside other priorities such as current and future regulatory capital requirements, operating capital requirements, and organic and select inorganic growth opportunities, will be the principal areas of focus.

Must admit I was against the tastytrade deal, thinking that it was a foolish buy at the top of the market that would prove to be a burden in the inevitable tough times when trading volume collapses, usually in the later stages of a bear market when many lose interest in shares. Early days but so far so good, though we haven't yet hit those times which will really test the validity of the acquisition.

Nice volatility thus far in September, along with people spending more time trading. My personal opinion is the drop is a massive over reaction to CMCX having been far too optimistic when lower volumes in August was both predicted and predictable.

Stockopedia has it passing 9 of their guru screens; not that it matters as we know from the number of takeovers this year that London investors are pretty hopeless.
