Cheers 25...will have a look

To summarise, I have long positions in RR. (stop 97p) AVE (stop 99p) JRVS (looks to be breaking out today on good volume...but best wait for two closes above 215 for confirmation....stop at 199)

Good afternoon peeps, just closed SCTN short, now long @499p. Risk/reward ratio now favors the upside imo.

I still consider CPR to be a potential short, but think it has further to rise. It has broken through the long term trend line (see above)and so it gould well re-test the 690 high.

I guess it's a case of either taking the medicine now or setting a rigid stop at say 695 if the pain after now is not too extra bad.

Toffee,

CPR volatility of only 6 is too low for me. Ideal entry point on the 22nd from an oversold condition the day before. Currently moving nicely above most ma's and although it's a touch overbought it doesn't warrant a short imo. I've not looked at the funnies - what are they like?

I have been bearish on CPR without holding a position, but looking at it dispationatley do I see a potential long?

Pushing two year resistance line

MACD up through zero

Rising RSI and this stock seems to move quite well with RSI

Slow Stoch indicates overbought, but when I look at the chart it does not seem a good indicator to use.

What do others think

Deano & Indalo,

You may wish to run your slide rule over ETI. I've no position though I might be tempted soon as it's now looking a touch oversold.

Nice chart, outperforming ub53, no goodwill, pays a divi, reasonable liquidity, upbeat recent trading statement, analyst concensus of 31.5% eps growth this year falling to 16% next year. Straight out of a Jacques Slater novel.

:-)

AAL sitting on support now...If the market falls it'll probably fall with it, so best wait&see.

Insurers well worth a long IMO...Useful support levels coming up on this retracement are PRU (410), LGEN (103).

Come on people!!!....Where are the ideas??

NOW is the time to look for good longs and build them on this pullback.

watch the bio charts every day.

they seem to be bottoming.

several are below cash.

some of these will be very attractive takeover targets from the us that has much higher valauations. most will however remain dogs.

but if there was ever a time to watch the trades its now.

particularly follow the less popular stuff like KSB, VER. theres takeover money around, but I've only the chart to help.

Oliver.

never follow my long tips they always go horribly wrong eventually !!

biotech sector getting very very interesting.

especially Chiron potentially buying PJP.

.

several biggies rallies seemed to fail Friday

e.g.

.

.

but some tiddlers are itching to breakout

.

.

and this may be bottomed as well ( I quite rate them)

.

but never follow my tips because I have shedloads of this one, and its a good example of us all getting duff calls sometimes. ( I hope its just my timing !!)

cheers APE, bloody good stuff. I will monitor in the morning. Many thanks.

PS, I am thinking of opening a late night thread very much on the lines of Deans, but it would cover just about everyone, and not just short termers would you be interested in any way????????????.

Regards Oliver.

cheers, APE for the advise. Im going in for £5,000 monday and just hoping. I think you are right. The bio sector has been kicked awfully about.

Regards Oliver.

ps, just one to watch. Danka Business Systems. This one always shoots off after a bad time in the markets.

an exceptionally speculative bouncer. ( you know I love biotechs).

BBG- British Biotech.

market sentiment is entirely negative.
big institutional offloading going on.
historically failed to deliver and management overoptimism in the past.

BUT.

To be fair a lot of its troubles have been bad luck as well as judgement.

I picked up a load at 2.6p. Its one of those very negatively marked down stocks with an outside chance of 10p short term. ( and its just possible it has some good products oin the pipeline.

worth watching if you like a gamble and bottom catching.
