No probs. Sounds like this was an order conceived and delivered in quick time -should be good for the H2 results.

Cheap, what was that about waggle and a visit to HYD - anything worth knowing?

Exceptionally alert Riv, as you say, it really is tomorrow's news today. And it seems a pretty substantial order - I like the way Hydro 'need to avoid interrupting the throughput of our work-in-progress.'

Stainless stormwater drainage flow controllers
An order for 17 Hydro-Brake Flow Controls, for a major stormwater drainage project in the Jordan Valley area, has been completed in just eight weeks for Hong Kong consulting engineers Scott Wilson.

Arc Energy Resources has completed an export order for seventeen Hydro-Brake Flow Controls for Hydro International. The order, which Hydro received from consulting engineers Scott Wilson, was completed to a tight deadline and shipped to Hong Kong pre-Christmas for a major stormwater drainage project for the Jordan Valley area. Hydro-Brake Flow Controls harness the energy inherent in the flow of liquid, so the units have no moving parts and no external energy requirements.

They are individually designed and manufactured for each installation and typically range in size from 50 mm outlet diameter up to almost two metres.

The seventeen made for Hong Kong have a wide range of bore sizes and were fabricated in 304 stainless steel.

They will be used to drain stormwater from roads and hard tarmac areas.

Commenting for Hydro International, spokesman Alex Stephenson says: 'Arc Energy did well to complete this order in just eight weeks which was needed to avoid interrupting the throughput of our work-in-progress.' Arc Energy project manager Neil Cook says the company's flexible working practices make it possible to accommodate orders such as this without inconveniencing other customers."

Waggle or cheap - care to elaborate on any visit?

Bit of nice new PR here:

"Purifying River Water for Medical and Food Products with Dynasand(R) (24 November 2006)

Manufacturing a wide range of paper and non-woven tissue products from medical gowns and masks to tea-bags, Ahlstrom plc's Chirnside plant depends on the quality of its process feedwater.

A total of 14 DynaSand(R) DST50D filters provide high performance, minimal maintenance filtration to ensure that intake from the local River Whiteadder is always of the optimum quality.

Ahlstrom Chirnside's Engineering Services and Utilities Supervisor, Manse Young, explains: "The Whiteadder is a typical spate driven river, running through farmland upstream of us. Water conditions can vary widely from almost black to brown and muddy when the farmers are ploughing and, even when clear and low, it has a peat stained character.

"We need 475m3/hr of high purity water to feed our processes, so to ensure it is of the optimum quality, it is dosed with poly aluminium silicate coagulant and then passed through the DynaSand(R) DST50D filters. In this way, we are able to remove all the sediments and silts, and strip out the colouration.

"Provided the recommended daily routine filter checks are completed, the DynaSand® filters do an excellent job and virtually run themselves, with little maintenance and management."

The DynaSand(R) units comprise a sand filter bed held within a hopper into which the water, pre-dosed with coagulant, is pumped via a manifold to deep within the sand. The water flows up through the sand bed, where solids are trapped on the grains of sand, into the open space above the sand, and the cleansed water exits via a weir at the top to a buffer tank.

The sand containing the entrapped solids is continuously air lifted from the bottom of the hopper, washed by a turbulent mixing action, and the clean sand allowed to return to the sand bed at the top to ensure a circular cleansing cycle. The wash water with separated solids is discharged separately for treatment.

The DynaSand(R) filtration plant is packaged with pumps, flowmeters and dosing equipment, in a compact installation. The backwash of extracted colour and other solids is treated in an effluent plant, then compressed with a belt filter and spread on the land locally.

Before discharge from the factory, the process water is treated in the effluent plant and released into the river, at around 10ppm of solids, an important factor as the Whiteadder is a renowned salmon river, and a tributary of the River Tweed.

If you would like any further information on DynaSand(R) filters or any of Hydro International's wastewater, stormwater and sewage treatment systems, please call 0800 269371."

Some of you guys might want to run an eye over CRPR - interims out this morning. Their Technical Fibre Products division is storming and alone justifies current valuation IMO - to some extent benefit from legislation in a similar way to HYD. ISA-able.

NOT ADVICE TO BUY.

From an amateur chartist point of view, it looks like HYD is up there with the early 2004 peak and has clear blue sky up to 174p or so...

Incidentally, I understand that there should be a new Peel Hunt briefing note on HYD before the end of 2006. Not long to wait!

Big article on Citywire today about flooding, the need for urgent action etc:

"Insurers call for urgent action on flooding

Published: 07:00 Wednesday 15 November 2006
By Lauren MacGillivray, News Reporter

The Association of British Insurers (ABI) is calling for government protection of England's East Coast from rising sea levels, after publishing a report that shows that Great Yarmouth, Lowestoft, East London, Hastings, Hull and Southend are at extreme risk.

According to Coastal Flood Risk – Thinking for Tomorrow, Acting Today, a rise of 40 centimetres in sea levels could happen as soon as 2040, and would put an extra 130,000 East Coast properties at risk.

Arthur Philp, underwriting policy manager for Norwich Union, said: 'Reports like the ABI's highlight the problem, so that the government can improve flood defences, allowing insurers to continue offering reasonable prices.'

Philp confirmed that in recent months, Norwich Union's prices have increased and some premiums have been denied along the East Coast.

He said: 'In high-risk flood areas, prices have probably gone up gradually. There has been a move by the market to recognise that flooding is a significant issue and it has recognised they should be charging increased premiums.'

Flood-related claims cost the UK insurance industry around £1 billion per year, with the average claim around £30,000 to £40,000 for building and contents. With that in mind, ABI members generally will not insure any new-build unless it has less than 0.5% chance of flooding.

Roger Spencer, proprietor of Spencer & Company Financial Services in Hull, deals with mortgage brokering and insurance. He said within the past 18 months, several of his clients have been complaining about rising premiums or flat-out rejections from large insurers like Norwich Union.

However, he said: 'It's not a problem you can't get around if you go to a smaller company.'

The ABI has an agreement with its members to continue offering coverage to existing customers with adequate flood defences. Where there are no defences, the ABI is calling for government action within five years.

The ABI is calling for an extra £8 billion in spending over the next 25 to 30 years to improve East Coast defences, a long-term flood management strategy looking 25 to 30 years ahead, and regional planning for 50 to 100 years from now."

It tends to be a slow burner; but profitable, well managed, in a niche market, strong finances and balance sheet and great prospects.

I'm holding for more, despite 50% up.

LOL! Good luck asparx - I've made 80% in around 15 months, with potentially much more to come as one of the few highly profitable quoted plays on the water sector (other than the utilities). If that isn't fast enough for you I don't know what is. HYD is for investors, not traders. But one decent tip or RNS.....anyway, see you around.

Given that Impax have recently bought 5% of HYD, this from Citywire today is relevant:

"One group that has harnessed green issues is iimia with the team taking stakes in environmentally-focused vehicles across their funds of funds range.

A key holding is Impax Environmental Markets. The team holds both the investment trust (IEM) and open-ended version but prefers the former for the protection that the closed-ended structure gives it.

Iimia fund manager Daniel Lockyer said: 'It has solar energy and wind energy holdings. Interestingly the portfolio has got exposure to water and water filtration which we like because we think people are underestimating how important water is going to be to emerging markets.'

He said increasing urbanisation was putting strain on water and sewage facilities in developing countries such as China. Industrial development also puts demand on water resources for example for use in making cement."
