Of course. But there will still be lots of delusional moronic "investors" on here that will be saying this is a good buying opportunity. Fear and greed...remember?

Plat Hunter Sorry, but Kor won't help. These guys couldn't organize the proverbial pi$$ up in a brewery........they've proved it many times now. Get rid of the grinning idiot and this has a chance. Keep him and it doesn't.

Ruffer make up most of the institutional holdings of HUM (around 76% of total of the 29% held by institutions) so if they're offloading they obviously thinking any price is better than zero.

Yup...It's discretionary, so any rebalances up or down will usually be a result of income reinvestment or distribution as well as fund flows and management charges 0.30% doesn't yet represent market wide panic imo.

I guess Ruffer is buying high and selling low? Abandoning the sinking ship?

TBTT I think I can confidently answer your question. It is abundantly clear to all investors by now that Betts obviously has a highly inflated opinion of himself and (in his mind) he genuinely believes he is a competent gold miner. He was exactly the same when he was at University. IMO over the last six years he has shown everyone his true capabilities now and should step down to avoid any more damage.

#PH, Ruffer selling 1.5M (0.3%) is not much of a move really, could be just portfolio re-balancing.., who knows their logic, but with POG picking up we should hopefully have see the back of the lows at 5p now and half way through Q4 already.. :o)

Mali security situation deteriorating further. See news of UK forces pulling out today, following other Europeans.
Wagner Group Russian mercenaries (slogan: "Death Is Our Business and Business Is Good") very much ruling the roost now. They have a brutal history of making side money by extorting miners (see Syria, Sudan, and CAR), and I don't see any reason to expect anything different in Mali.
Why Dan Betts fools around with becoming by far the smallest miner in the World Gold Council when Hummingbird have such massive business problems is beyond me!

Derisks the debt too LLB, which is a group level liability that has significantly added to the risk profile, no thanks to yanfolila performance.

#PH, yes, the Kouroussa project progress towards 1st pour is as much if not more important now, de-risking the company, and to average out the AISC across 2 mines, USD1,000 an ounce for Kouroussa is a a bit light to what we can achieve now costs have gone up, but either way it will be a big reducing influence across both mines..

#Zhockey, it will be ounces driven of course, but, as a result of the actions taken, Yanfolila is expected to deliver an AISC of under US$1,400 per ounce for Q4 2022 and be cashflow positive..

Additionally, POG looks well set up to be +100 an ounce over and above Q3..

The proof as ever will be in the pudding late Jan 2023 and the next update but it is all there for the taking now with Gold our side.. :o)

Did anyone really think that the establishment was just going to roll over and cede financial control to an international gang? It will have been significant wealth destruction: as ever, of the latecomers to the party.

It should be good for gold.

Cannot do any harm to the gold price the fall in bitcoin not the great store of value it was supposed to be ,maybe just a ponzi scheme after all as some influential investors have said.

#DB, steady as she goes, we do not want a spike and a crash in POG, steady gains as the DXY softens will see us right.., demand pull on pricing on top, central banks are stockpiling .. :o)

Although gold is up, I'm a bit disappointed with the gain today given that the US Dollar Index is down another 1.25%. It should be knocking on $1.780.

I listened to Deannae Julius, ex BoE. She talked about rising inflation in the UK and the need for higher interest rates. No one seems to be factoring in how much the Dollar's increase this year has raised inflation here (and everywhere else) nor the amelioration coming from its having lost circa 6% in the past week.

It may not change the Dollar Index this year, but the US Debt Ceiling is close to being reached. As soon as the new House of Representatives sits (Jan 3rd?), the Republicans are promising to get very aggressive in using this to counter Biden's expenditure program. Mitch McConnell closed down the government over this and was then condemned by his Party for agreeing to an extension. The new Republican leader of The House is expected to be far more aggressive. That would have negative consequences for GDP growth, the Dollar and, possibly, the grading of US Bonds. The new Republican leader of The House may even start ramping up the rhetoric over this issue as soon as he's appointed.

Great timing for the USD to soften as it has sending POG to 1,750, and additional 100 an ounce margin for HUM could not have been better timed to bring us back into profit at Yanfolila..Some very large index moves last night across the pond, could be an interesting day here for the FTSE too..
