Because as my pseudonym suggests, I hang on and never let go. Perhaps that's why I stubbornly continue to support this dog? Sometimes, we all make stupid mistakes I guess? I should have known better than back a public schoolboy with no prior knowledge of running a goldmine. Big mistake. We live and learn.

"Positive results from the bulk sample programme completed in conjunction with Hummingbird Resources plc (AIM: HUM; ‘Hummingbird’) which explored the ability of the ore at Sanankoro to be concentrated by gravity separation to a level that would be viable to transport distances more than 100km to support a lower capex and faster route to cash flow"

The first results showing whether a vaccine can stop people from getting the virus could come by mid-September from AstraZeneca Plc, according to Airfinity Ltd., an analytics company that tracks drug trials.

Two other contenders -- the U.S.’s Moderna Inc. and the U.S.-German partnership of Pfizer Inc. and BioNTech SE -- may also have initial data before a key Food and Drug Administration meeting on virus vaccines scheduled for Oct. 22, Airfinity said. The federal government has told states to prepare for a vaccine by Nov. 1.

sleveen, I totally agree with your attitude to the Russians announcing that they have a vaccine. Having said that, it comes as no surprise, surely, that the Russians would jump from 1/2a to Phase 3 testing. I'm only surprised that Trump has NOT celebrated the "breakthrough".

Meanwhile back on planet earth, Oxford moved to Phase 3 testing a while ago (after successful results from Phase 1 and 2) e.g. in Brazil at the end of June. I believe they only very recently expanded the trial to 30,000 Americans. They are, obviously, going by the book.

My doubt all along has been that politicians like Trump would demand production of a vaccine which shows success before Phase 3 testing is completed.

tradesafely. Goldman Sachs are right. But unfortunately, after five years, Hum isn't one.

Hi LLB, $1000/oz gross profit is pretty much right give or take $50 which is why at current POG all gold producers are coining it in and have rightly re-rated to reflect that fact.

HUM's share price progress was halted and reversed because of the (bloodless and popular)coup which now means HUM are still a bargain when compared to others that have re-rated. I only added an extra 15k this week to my position but am already fully invested otherwise would be adding.

Where I disagree with the Shares Mag article is where they say the Kouroussa 'project can be entirely funded through internal cash flow'. It wont be, it will imo be funded mostly or entirely by debt finance. Which gives HUM the pleasant headache of deciding what it will do with the FCF next year.

News flow to look forward to

Yanifola drill results, reserves upgrade, life of mine extension

Kouroussa, Gov't mine approval, exploration drilling and reserves increase, debt finance agreed and mine build

Dugbe exploration drilling and reserves increase, BFS

Initial dividend payout

36p is very cheap and (if all goes to plan) I'm expecting 90-100p in the next 2 to 3 years, and will probably start taking stake money out from 65p. Gold producers are the asset to be in atm and I think POG the next few years will make it an enjoyable ride.

Shares Magazine Article

THE STOCK TO BUY

Hummingbird Resources (HUM:AIM)
Like most gold miners, Hummingbird has had a good 2020 as reflected in its share price, yet it still trades on less than five times forecast earnings.
Last week it revealed it had paid down a chunk of its debt and reiterated its commitment to having no borrowings by July 2021, consistent with the consensus forecast on SharePad.

The firm’s all-in sustaining cost of production is $995 per ounce while gold is trading at nearly twice that level.

A key risk to the share price is that one of its mines is in Mali, where there has recently been unrest, but for gold investors political risk is not that unusual.
Quite a few analysts are excited by the company including Canaccord Genuity’s Sam Catalano who likes the look of the Kouroussa gold project in Guinea that Hummingbird has just bought.
‘We believe the acquisition and development of the Kouroussa project can be entirely funded through internal cash flow,’ said Catalano, commenting before the deal completed on 1 September.
‘Successful completion of the proposed Kouroussa acquisition should provide meaningful value accretion for existing holders (20p-30p/share) as well as broadening Hummingbird’s appeal to a larger range of investors through operating life extension, doubling of output to more than 200,000 ounces per year, and becoming a multi- asset producer.’

At least 10 Malian soldiers were killed in an overnight ambush in the country's volatile central region near the Mauritanian border, security and local sources said Friday. The deaths came as Mali’s junta faces pressure from political and civil society leaders ahead of weekend talks to hammer out a transition plan.

The latest attack in the Guire region near the Mauritanian border was the third time Malian security forces suffered heavy losses since the military took power in a coup on August 18.

According to an internal security ministry report, 10 soldiers were killed in the attack, including a senior officer, and four vehicles were torched.
