No sorry deadly serious, am in Portugal is like a oven here for the past 7 weeks and only 2 days rain and the water table in my well is getting very low to the point of desperation if we don't get significant rain in the next 3 weeks and yes we get t upto 102 some days. Wine or vino, don't use it, don't need it as the heat is enough to knock you out. Be glad when it cools of a bit.

Whilst you are all dribbling on about rainfall, send some here as we need it. Is back to 33c again and am running out of water. as for the tie up with Oxford uni and ASZ I presume that's what your on about was out 2 weeks ago.
In the meantime we appear to be recovering ground.

So, back to normal.

All very quiet on the news front now: fait accompli

Trading resuming between the ECOWAS countries, despite the original strong stance.

Self interest will prevail as the individual countries compete for Mali import/export business.

Hopefully, those Jihadists in the north will already be thinking of making themselves scarce: perhaps going back to regions more allied with their extreme beliefs.

It has been such a peaceful event overall and largely because of the acquiescence of the population: it has to be hoped that they will be rewarded with the peace and prosperity that strong and stable government can bring.

Resolute Mining Limited (Resolute or the Company) (ASX/LSE: RSG) continues to monitor the political situation in Mali and notes that Bamako International Airport has reopened and that the Company's supply lines to the Syama Gold Mine (Syama), located in the south of Mali on the border with Côte d'Ivoire, are open and secure.

Resolute confirms the Company's operations at Syama are continuing as normal with no impact to production or to the safety and security of employees and contractors.

Mali's military junta has put forward a plan for a soldier-led transitional body to rule for three years and agreed to release the ousted president, French Radio RFI and the AFP news agency reported.

The proposal was reportedly presented during negotiations between the rebel soldiers and West Africa's regional bloc late Sunday.

You heard it here first:

The Trump administration is reportedly considering a plan that would bypass normal regulatory procedures to fast-track an experimental coronavirus vaccine developed in the United Kingdom so that it can be used in the United States ahead of the November presidential election, according to the Financial Times. One option that is reportedly under consideration involves issuing an emergency use authorization, like the one that was announced Sunday for plasma treatment, to a vaccine being developed by AstraZeneca and Oxford University. That authorization would be on the back of a small U.K. study that, even if successful, would fall far short of the normal requirements for the approval of a vaccine.

Top administration officials told congressional leaders last month they were likely to award emergency approval for a vaccine before the end of Phase 3 clinical trials in the United States. The New York Times also reported on this July 30 meeting in which Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin and the White House chief of staff, Mark Meadows reportedly revealed the plan to congressional leaders, including House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Sen. Chuck Schumer. During the meeting, the administration officials said that the AstraZeneca vaccine that is being developed with Oxford University was the most likely candidate, according to the Times. Pelosi reportedly warned there should be “no cutting corners” in getting a vaccine approved, reports the FT. Administration officials disputed the accounts of what was said at the meeting with spokesmen for Meadows and Mnuchin both claiming neither of them discussed the prospects for the AstraZeneca vaccine.

Now you're just contradicting statements I haven't made or misunderstood what I've said. They have hills and flash floods in Manchester and Bamako - they're dealt with using the same principles!!! Of course the parameters are different for any 2 places, I didn't say they weren't.

A road built on a floodplain is not the same as the same road built on a hill.

A month worth of rain falling in a few days is not the same as the same amount of rain drizzled over a whole month even if on a monthly average they might be.

The geological features of Yanofilla are completely different to those of Manchester and they will make the effects of rainfall different too.

The earth in one place may absorb the rain 100% while in another it might absorb virtually nothing and cause floods.

Etc.

Anywho. It looks like all is good at Yanofilla so we are all good.
